Farrah Fawcett’s Iconic Swimsuit Donated to the Smithsonian

Farrah Fawcett's Iconic Red Swimsuit Donated to the Smithsonian
Everett

The red swimsuit that made Farrah Fawcett into a iconic pin-up is headed to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Fawcett’s longtime companion Ryan O’Neal will donate the swimsuit and other items, including an original copy of the swimsuit poster, a leather-bound book of Fawcett’s personal copies of scripts for the first season of Charlie’s Angels, a Fawcett swimsuit jigsaw puzzle, a “Farrah Phenomenon” 1976 edition of TV Guide, an original 1977 Farrah Fawcett doll and a “Farrah’s Glamour Center” hairstyling toy, to the Smithsonian on Wednesday. The items will join the museum’s pop culture history collection, which includes items ranging from Dorothy’s ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz to Kermit the Frog. Best known for her role on Charlie’s Angels, Fawcett’s iconic 1976 poster in which she donned a clingy red bathing suit sold millions of copies. After a long battle with cancer, Fawcett died in 2009 at the age of 62. – Alla Byrne

EXCLUSIVE: Jersey Shore’s Ronnie to Launch a T-Shirt Line

Jersey Shore T-Shirt Launch

For the past two summers, he and his Jersey Shore co-stars have spent their summers working at a T-shirt shop in Seaside Heights, N.J., and now Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is ready to share his expertise with the world, by launching his own line, called Jersey Laundry. “The crowds in Jersey wait in line for hours for shirts that say ‘Team Ronnie,’ or ‘I Heart Vinnie,’” he explains. “We’re going for stuff like that, and running with it.” The line, which he’ll be previewing Friday in Dallas and Saturday in Las Vegas, will feature some of Ortiz-Magro’s sayings and a few images of him as well. Some examples? “‘GTS, gym tan smush’,” he says. “They’re more for the younger fan base. Funny stuff like, ‘Got Smush’? ‘Have You Smushed Today?’” The shirts, which will roll out on their own new website in late February and cost about $20 apiece, will start with three men’s shirts and three women’s, including one that reads, “I [Heart] Single Ronnie.” Still, he won’t confirm whether he’s on the market: “You gotta wait and see for the season how things pan out and see where that goes,” he teases. “Every episode is more and more drama—it’s not gonna get dull!” One thing he’s happy to gush about? Filming season four of his hit show in Italy this spring. “As soon as I heard, I put an order in for a Rosetta Stone,” he says. “I need to know how to order grilled chicken when I get down there—I can’t have pasta everyday!” And expect to see him rocking Jersey Laundry overseas. “We’ve got T-shirt time, and now I’m making the T-shirt!” he laughs. Tell us: Will you buy a T-shirt from Ronnie’s new line?Lesley Messer

Diane Kruger: Fashion Makes Me Emotional

Diane Kruger on the March cover of Glamour Magazine

Not that we had any doubts about former model Diane Kruger’s affinity for fashion, but the star is revealing that shopping is way more than just a hobby. “I truly, genuinely like clothes,” the cover girl tells Glamour magazine. “Making them is an art form, and wearing them is a form of self-expression. I find it very emotional because I can remember moments in my life — my mood, how I felt — through these clothes.” But you won’t find Kruger making impulse purchases — most of them are planned well in advance. “The biggest fashion purchase I ever made I thought about for six years,” she says. “I’m not kidding. All my life I wanted to own an Hermès Constance bag, and when I signed with Calvin Klein, I decided this was the time that I could afford it. I truly broke a sweat when I paid for it.”–Kim Peiffer

Lauren Conrad: My Three Favorite Looks

Lauren Conrad Red Carpet Style

With the fashion world at her disposal and a seemingly bottomless closet, you’d think it would be hard for The Hills alum Lauren Conrad to pick three favorite looks from the past year. Fortunately, the style star, who celebrated her 25th birthday February 1, knows what works for her and was happy to chat with PEOPLE about her fashion philosophy. On January 5, it was as simple as letting her chocolate strands take center stage. “The cream color of this Quail dress felt so chic to me,” she explains. “I wanted to wear a lighter color to make the brown pop.” Regarding a business-casual look from her own Kohl’s line: “I love a black skinny with a boyfriend blazer. It’s polished enough to wear to a meeting but cool enough for an evening out.” Her final favorite look, a shorts-and-blouse combo she chose for the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party, was a case of color theory. “I love pairing navy and olive green together for a military chic look,” she says. “I was in such a hurry this night Kristin Ess had to do my hair in the car on the way there.” She could have fooled us! Tell us: Which of Lauren Conrad’s simply chic looks do you prefer?Justine Harman
