Michelle Obama's Stylist Revealed

Michelle Obama is a staple of best-dressed lists, known for rocking everything from haute designers to H&M, but even the First Lady needs a helping hand shopping sometimes. ABC News reports that hairdresser Vera Chamberlin revealed to the Washington Post that her client Meredith Koop, a 29-year-old Vanderbilt University grad, has taken over the role of stylist to the First Lady from Chicago retailer Ikram Goldman. Koop, a former protegé of Goldman, was sent to the White House to help out with Obama’s fashion needs before taking over the role full time. A White House spokesperson identifies Koop as a “personal aide to the First Lady and a member of the White House Residence staff” with duties beyond the First Lady’s wardrobe. But as far as clothes are concerned, the White House said in an email to ABC News that Koop’s “responsibilities include advising the first lady on her wardrobe and acting on her behalf in arranging for purchases, including considering the best offered price, and buying on discount if discounts are available.” Sounds like a good gig to us!

DSB, etal., I personally don’t want my First Lady dressing in $30 ill fitting dresses. The FL should have a stylist, paid assistants, and all of the trappings that come with the position and I don’t care that it’s taxpayer money. That’s part of the deal.

To Just My Opinion—–Your “facts” are all wrong!!!! Bush didn’t leave us in this mess. Obummer has managed to do it in just 2 years. AND TO ALL WHO THINK MRS OBUMMER IS A FASIONISTA–Surely You JEST! Her dress is NEVER appropriate for the occasion. I shudder every time she is mentioned in the same sentence as Jackie Kennedy.
(much less compared to her) THERE IS NO COMPARISON!!!Jackie O looked better at her worst than Obummer does at her best.

I’d take that job! I think she is a classy lady and she is NOT OLD, so why should we expect her to dress like a granny?

My opinions of the “politics” does not sway my opinion of a wardrobe.

I think she looks lovely, my grandma had a couch that looked like this dress, and it was such a lovely couch, we used to sit on the fluffy, lumpy couch. This picture reminds me so much of the good ol’ days.

Two of her all-time award-winning accessories are her belts that are the size of conveyor belts and that thing she wore around her waist over a coat that looked like a car tire. Unreal.

@Brooke – you tax dollars doesn’t pay for anything related to her personal style. Learn about what we as Americans pay for and what we don’t.

Also, she deserves all the perks of being a first lady. Every first lady had a sytlist and at least Mrs. Obama is shopping on the sales rack the majority of the time. Get a clue? Mrs. Obama you rock!

I wish the First Lady would stand up straight. The round shoulders and breast touching belly don’t make for a classy look…no matter who she is wearing. So, shoulders back…chin up and look proud of what you are wearing.

Thw only time she has looked good was when she wore the black vintage Norman Norell – the dress was stunning, and, for once, she looked decent.

I do not care for her style but she has a right to what she likes. Why is it that the previous presidents’ wives had the same luxuries and no one complained. Sad isn’t it

@mirame “since when is it ok for the First Lady to wear yellow, bright blue, bright green, etc. jeans?” When I read this I had to read it about two or three times. What on God’s green earth would make you say a ridiculous statement like that. I didnt know there was a code of dress for first ladies. She is young and unlike some of the past first ladies which were older and definately not as up to date or into fashion as Mrs. Obama. so the fact that you think her wearing these colors is inappropriate is like i said before ridiculous. So i guess she should wear black every where she goes and look like she’s in mourning all the time.
