Kat Von D’s Engagement Ring: The Inside Scoop!

Kat Von D and Jesse James may not look like the most traditional couple at first glance, but when it came time to pick out an engagement ring, it was a classically elegant style that won out. The newly-engaged L.A. Ink star hit the 16th Annual Los Angeles Art Show Opening Night Premiere Party held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Wednesday night, showing off her sparkler. The gorgeous ring is the creation of star-favorite jeweler Neil Lane, who has recently created engagement rings for everyone from Nicole Richie to Jessica Simpson. Lane describes it as a four-carat-plus platinum and diamond ring from his archival collection, adding, “It’s a beautiful ring set with a central round diamond in the middle with smaller surrounding diamonds for an overall dome shape. It has a delicate filigree pattern with very pretty scroll-work.” –reporting by Elizabeth Leonard

VIDEO: The Making of Black Swan’s Crystal-Studded Costumes

It wouldn’t be a ballet without tutus, and the making of the exquisite tutus in psycho-thriller Black Swan was no easy task. In this video, costume designers from Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte (who designed the ballerina outfits for the film) and others talk about the intricate design of the costumes and the incorporation of Swarovski crystals throughout the movie, from the tutus Natalie Portman wears on stage to the six magnificent chandeliers used on set. Swarovski—known for their precision-cut luxury crystal– provided over 250,000 crystals for the making of the film, adding to the dark, romantic aesthetics of the pivotal ballet scenes. “There is something amazing about crystals that is indescribable,” said Thérèse DePrez, Production Designer for the film. And with 250,000 of them, it must have been quite a sparkling set. –Kim Peiffer

Lady Gaga Previews New Song at Paris Fashion Week Show

Lady Gaga fans love the star’s music and fashion sense, and now they can get their fix of both! The house of Mugler, which retained the boundary-pushing pop star as its musical director for its Paris menswear presentation on Wednesday, has released a short film combining footage from the runway with a remixed version of a new track from Gaga’s hotly anticipated new album, Born This Way. How did the singer get hooked up with Mugler? Jennifer Lopez: Why I Had the Twins Pose for Gucci

Jennifer Lopez has gotten twins Emme and Max started early in modeling—but all for a good cause. The actress-singer recently posed with her tots, who will be 3 next month, in ads introducing Gucci’s new kids’ collection because there was a strong charity connection, not because Emme and Max were clamoring for the gig. “They’re like, ‘Mom, hello! Hair and makeup!’ ” Lopez, 41, jokes in an interview that aired Tuesday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “No. Actually, Frida Giannini from Gucci said she was going to launch the Gucci’s kids line, and they were going to do it in conjunction with UNICEF, and would we do it?” Read more in our Moms & Babies section.
