Julianne Moore is no stranger to sexy ad campaigns — but this time, she’s fully clothed in an outfit from Talbots’ Spring 2011 line. Talbots’ chief creative officer Michael Smaldone says she was picked for the spring campaign because she “exemplifies everything we want as the face of the brand. She’s a very active, beautiful, soulful woman.” The ads, shot in a greenhouse by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, reflect Moore’s relationship to the 60-year-old brand: “We have this lush, traditional setting, and Julianne is in the middle of it. She’s strong, confident, and very modern. And it’s very ethereal and sensual.” Moore’s classic but playful style, Smaldone says, is also a great fit for what he calls Talbots’ “tradition transformed” platform. “We want to hold on to the classic pieces, but make them relevant to a woman today,” he says. “We’re not trendy, but our clothes are current and modern.” And Moore seems to agree, walking out of the shoot with one of the outfits from the campaign. Dishes Smaldone, “She said, ‘If this is the new Talbots, count me in!’” Check out the behind-the-scenes video, then tell us: What do you think of Julianne’s new ads?Alex Apatoff

When I was working, I shopped at Talbots quite often and was always very impressed with the quality of the merchandise and the helpfulness of the staff at the Rolling Hills, CA store. Now that I am retired, I cannot afford their prices and the quality seems to have slipped, also. From the website and catalogs I have received it appears that they have become more trendy as opposed to classic. Find better quality at two different stores that both begin with C.

She is so beautiful (inside and out) and such an incredible talent; love her.

Ok, how is this sensual? This is nowhere near sensual. AT ALL. I hate how these Hollywood people exaggerate about EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!! Get over it!

I take offense to people who say Talbots is for “old people” Talbots is classic and somewhat trendy…..I have wonderful pieces I have worn for years and don’t feel the least bit “old” I feel stylish and comfortable and I’m complimented on my attire!! Take that!!

Talbots has great timeless, traditional pieces for the more conservative woman. Not every “all-american” brand has to be fresh and updated like Jcrew or llbean. i don’t shop at Talbots, but it does have its niche, not all us want to dress “young”.

No more do I shop at the over priced store who gets their clothes made in Vietnam. A plain t-shirt after it’s washed looks horrible and no shape.Found Dress barn my new love!

I just decided to stop reading comments. You can literally split it down the middle with this stuff. The haters and the lovers. Boring. Everyone sounding off to what, a computer screen? Wow, what power. She is a class act and it amazes me that even fifty percent would slam her or Talbot’s. Raunch sells so much more clearly.

She seems like a very lovely person, but I’m sorry, she is very unattractive.

I really like Talbot’s. Not everything is to my taste, but I wouldn’t expect to like everything ANY store has. The pieces I buy are classic, well-fitting, and of good quality. The salesclerks at the Peachtree St., Atlanta, Georgia, store and the ones at The Avenues in Peachtree City, Georgia, are all helpful and pleasant.

I used to work part time at Talbots (about 5 years ago) and their clothes really are nice. They were somewhat conservative but they had nice tops and great pants, pretty shoes–good business attire; but mixed in with some really pretty pieces. It is not the preppy Talbots that you think of from the 1960s and 1970s. They were a bit overpriced though. Their managers were horrible to work for though–and even now when I go to shop there I do find the sales people to be rude–which is funny because Talbots prided itself on customer service..what a laugh.
