yuck!

Jon on

Ewww, who caes!

karina on

i like it, good for her! as least the ring looks better than Jessica Simpson’s

lisa on

Gorgeous ring!! So happy for them and best wishes to them! :)

Melisa on

Seriously!!! Why are they reporting on this girl like she has done something significant in the past decade???

Abby on

You obviously cared enough to click the story. How silly do you sound right now, Jon.

All I can think about is how much that looks like Diana/Kate Middleton’s ring. I think a trend towards engagement rings with colourful rocks is inevitable in 2011, thanks to that ring coming back with a vengeance!

XXOXXO on

It just looks like a copied version of Kate (of Prince William/Diana’s) ring. It’s not that original. Not my style-but hope they’re happy.

Melissa on

I agree with Moia…Yuck

Holly on

I think it’s pretty (not my style, but pretty, good luck finding a matching band. I went through about five engagement rings before finding the perfect ring, which was sapphire, and I ran across two years after being married (though mine is emerald cut). I’m willing to bet that 99% of you who are wearing diamond rings have no clue why it’s the standard. Just because all of your friends have one doesn’t mean that’s what everyone else should be wearing.

canada girl on

It is not my taste but it it is unique

Lynn on

How did he pay for it???

Stephanie on

Who cares about this girl!!! Does she even act anymore? Stop wasting space on this girl!

Jen on

Holly, you made a comment that you bet 99% of people don’t know why diamond engagement rings are the standard…so let’s tell them! :) (smile). Here’s the answer: Engagement rings in general are an entirely 20th century phenomenon (prior to that engagement gifts were common, but not rings per se). The De Beers diamond company was experiencing sinking diamond sales in the early part of the 1930s and made a deal with movie studios to incorporate “diamond engagement rings” in their storylines to help “jump start” their diamond sales. The public wanted to emulate the movie stars and as such, the idea of an “diamond engagement ring” caught on. Diamonds in and of themselves aren’t especially rare or unique…it’s the demand created by Hollywood that helped to cement the idea that diamonds were associated with love and romance.

Jennifer on

Wow I haven’t seen a ring like that since the 80s.

nicole on

These two are losers. They have a child, get “engaged” but yet state that they will not get legally married. Even with a child now they cant commit to each other but instead want to play around and have fun getting a ring and all the “pretty” things. It’s all fake. Dont get engaged if you aren’t going to get married. You dont deserve a ring then jodi.

melonheads sister on

It is very pretty but looks like it will easily catch on things.

Lena on

Did that come from emitations?

Mrs JP on

I think her ring is beautiful =)

And to all those negative people who put out their negative comments, its nice to see your lives are that pathetic and sad, that you have to go and try and rain on someone else’s parade, when there is good news to share.

Get a life people, if your lives are that bad and pathetic, do something about it!

Holly on

Good job Jen!

Elizabeth on

It’s a beautiful ring. I would love to wear a ring like that. Congratulations to the lovely couple.

Alison on

It’s definitely a beautiful ring but I don’t love it as an engagement ring.

Promise Ring from High School on

This ring looks exactly like the $79 K’s Merchandise ring my friend received as a promise ring in high school in 1998.

Crystal on

Beautiful ring and lovely couple! She is such a true inspiration. Anyone who overcomes drug addiction and survives an abusive marriage is a champion!

Tina on

WoW….
Overcome a meth addiction, finds one husbands, relapses, gets a divorce now manages to get a ring for a possible second marrige??? Something wrong with this picture. Good luck though, stay CLEAN girl.

ChaosNmotion on

I’m really not trying to be mean or negative but it looks cheap as well as fake… hopefully it’s just poorly photographed. I too like unique and different but it will be difficult to find a band that will fit with or under it and will catch on things… sorry not hating… just my opinion.

ELC on

It really wasn’t a pretty ring for Princess Diana
nor for Kate Middleton. It also does nothing for the finger of Sweetin. Personally, the stone and the snowflake looks ridiculous, but hey everyone
has the right to like what they like. Just have a
happy life together!!

NM on

It’s okay, not my taste. Not sure why he bothered, since a wedding will most likely not happen.

beazley on

It’s a beautiful ring and I love the reminder of Kate Middleton’s heirloom. Hope that they are blissfully happy. =)

beazley on

Thanks Jen. Interesting! I’m sure most people don’t know that. =)

josephine on

What a JOKE! Engaged? What’s the big deal! She married too young has a kid, another out of wedlock and is a BiG DRUGGIE. Read her book. she is penniless since she wasted all of her FULL HOUSE money on drugs. She’s just looking for attention I feel sorry for her.

bnl on

um, if the one I love gave me “made up of a 2.5-carat oval-cut sapphire surrounded by 18 diamonds in a snowflake pattern for a total weight of around 3.75 carats”

LOVE IT!!!!!

veraroberts on

It looks broken but it’s pretty.

Tracey- on

It looks like he couldn’t afford a diamond…

Zane on

I wonder why Americans are so opposed to gem stones? Natural red, green and blue stones are more fascinating than a colorless rock. We were sold this idea of diamonds being eternal, aren’t sapphires and rubies and emeralds as enduring, do they crumble and turn to dust while diamonds last? This is not the best looking sapphire ring, but there are exquisite designs out there made by Tiffany, Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels.

erika on

ohhh- sure he picked it out months before the royal engagement. who is she fooling with that line?

sam on

Jen and Holly thank you for teaching me something new. I immigrated to this country and never understood the whole engagement ring thing. In our country you get one ring a band when you marry and that is it. From my understanding most of Europe is the same way. Now that I know why women are after diamond engagement ring I am never getting one. Not that I was ever to but it’s an even bigger no now. Thanks ladies for the education.

Megan on

Am I the only one who thinks this girl is a train wreck?

Lynn on

I LOVE it!!! I used to want a Sapphire engagement ring. I love my diamond I have now though-but Sapphires ARE gorgeous!!

Sue on

Anyone else think he looks like Uncle Jesse’s hobo doppelganger?

Holly on

slowwww news day

Brooke on

That has Fingerhut written all over it…..

souschef on

Not a pretty ring, in my estimation, but no one does or should care what I think. My only hope is that she stays on the right path and remains off of the meth. MAN she must have had one one heck of an orthodontist! What a beautiful smile! Keep smilin’, gal! Great luck to them all.

Kim on

Too much like a cheap immitation of the Princess Diana ring. He couldn’t find something original?

Peggy on

I would think that the child they just had would enough of a “token of their affection”…

Lisa on

Tina – “possible” THIRD marriage, not second. Classy! Those two bozos should have their own reality show, “Jodie Sweetin’s Third times a charm,” or “Jodie Sweetin’s Three strikes you’re out?”

SB on

looks like the one they advertise for $19.95

Jeanine on

People grow up!! If you can’t be positive then why comment. It’s a pretty ring and I wish them the best.

Nancy on

Good for you Jodie. I am happy for the both of you. I wish you much happiness and pray that life gets easier for you in the future.

Nancy on

Nicole, there is nothing wrong with getting engaged and not getting married right away or never. It’s all about “commitment” and he’s just showing his commitment by giving her an engagement ring. To each his own.

Also, the ring is beautiful, but for me, I prefer a diamond. Maybe I’m just traditional or maybe I just think the sparkler of a diamond is better than any other gem.

I’m also not sure why People is covering Jody Sweetin’s news since she’s not really acting right now. My best guess is that since she’s a recovering addict People did an article on her a few years ago, some readers, moved by her story, may be wondering what she’s up to these days.

Anyway…congrats to Jody and her fiancée.

Ann on

Don’t know much about Ms. Sweetin, apparently she is a celebrity. I love sapphires, or almost any sparkly stone for that matter, but I do not care for this ring, it looks cheap. But if she is happy, that’s all that matters.

ariana on

this is the corniest ring ever…bs that he designed it months ago…people what gain are you having in reporting her? is this part of the DWTS campaign? i guess they have no choice but to recruit her ass huh smh

Kim on

WOW! Some of you guys are being so judgemental. Have you ever heard of forgiveness and that people do change. I wasn’t my husband’s first marriage. We are working out fine. Maybe he is the one and they will live togther for the rest of thier lives. Maybe not. I am not a fan of the ring either but he gave that to her from his heart and that all that matters.

CatRain on

First- good luck to them. I love to hear engagement news- no matter who’s it is.

I love the new trend of engagement rings going away from diamonds. Something meaningful and unique to the couple is far better than a “keepin’ up with the Jones” giant diamond. Seriously- if people are all butt hurt and judgemental over another ladies ring- then said person has some serious issues on material dependancy to address.

Besides- the diamond was originally given as a bride price- like a man was buying property. So in case he died or left the woman- she could sell it to support herself. It’s not very pretty when you think of it in terms of property ownership and insurance.

september on

It would be nicer if diamonds were round…Love sapphires

Lori A on

I, for one, am happy for her and her Husband to be. She has had a rough time but does seem like she is trying and rising above it. You all that post negative comments about her, do you know her at all? If not, go spew your negative hatred somewhere else.

JESS on

Beautiful ring

Nora on

Pretty, but still prefer my perfect clear Marquise Solitaire on a plain gold band!

Lorelai on

Those saying “EWWW” only wish they’d get a sapphire ring with diamonds lol you girls ain’t getting anything close to that!! Congrats!! beautiful ring!

beth on

I love sapphires and diamonds together. My own engagement ring is a princess cut diamond, flanked by 2 smaller princess cut sapphires, which are followed by 2 baguette diamonds. I think her ring is very pretty. I think it’ll probably catch all over the place, but I like it a lot.

Sunny on

I agree. Not my style, but it’s her ring. It just looks cheap. Sapphire’s can be expensive, I know, especially that size but normally because their round…not oval. I don’t know….the photography maybe was bad. For those commenting on “those with negative attitudes”….they are in people magazine and are famous…the “people” are allowed to have their opinions when they ask below the article for comments. :)

Sarah S. on

This particular one is not my style, but I like the fact that sapphires are becoming popular again as the center stone for engagement rings.
