Kate Middleton Picks Her Wedding Dress Designer, But Keeps Name Secret

Kate Middleton Picks a Dress Designer!

It looks like Kate Middleton has made her biggest decision since accepting Prince William‘s marriage proposal. The future princess has picked the designer who will make her wedding dress, a source tells PEOPLE. However, the identity of the couturier with the task of creating the gown that will be poured over by hundreds of millions of people around the world on April 29, remains a secret — as is the couple’s wish. But was there a clue amid the speculation? Bruce Oldfield‘s name re-entered the mix because Kate’s mom Carole and her sister Pippa were spotted heading to his store in the swanky Knightsbridge area of London. Photos published in the U.K.’s News of the World show mother and daughter strolling in the street and visiting Oldfield’s store after lunching at San Lorenzo restaurant. The paper said the shopping trip gave “a big hint he’s been picked to design the royal wedding dress.” But no one is confirming. Oldfield’s shop had no comment for PEOPLE, and the palace spokesman says, “It’s Miss Middleton’s intention to keep the dress a secret for her bridegroom on their wedding day, as is every bride’s prerogative.” Oldfield, a favorite of Princess Diana, has not commented on making a wedding gown for Middleton, but he said in a statement in December, “Kate has such a gorgeous figure that she would look stunning in anything.” – Simon Perry and Monique Jessen

I really appreciate the fact that Kate is staying involved in her wedding plans and not letting everything be done FOR her! Especially because I feel quite sure that this marriage will last, not like William’s Royal parents. Why? Because they actually CHOSE each other!!! SHE was not CHOSEN for HIM, they have known each other for years, and I see no 3rd party peering from the background!

I am sure that Kate has Royal Advisors for the required protocol and all, but I am. also, sure that there will be ‘Touches of Kate’ throughout the ceremony. Beautiful comment, Laura! I am sure that Diana is, and will remain, right there with them! Camilla is a scarey woman!! I hope that Kate sees that! To bad that Kate has chosen her dress designer! British…. figured that! But I saw a design from an American designer that would be terrific!! Is there an e-mail address that design sugestions/offerings could be sent to?

So I guess if mother and daughter were photographed shopping at the British version of Bed Bath & Beyond that would be a “hint” that Kate is getting her wedding dress there along with the royal toilet brush? Give me a break. Mother and daughter were having a nice shopping outing together. Don’t read into everything they do as something connected to wedding preparations. This is getting absurd.

Jay, you are so right! i was hoping the paparazzi would learn from what happen with Lady Di and leave her alone! sometimes i feel like they dont have a heart, the way they harass the celebrities. i cant wait for this wedding!

am just a bit flumoxed why americans are so obssessed here? lol! this is a country that has not much in common with america in the way they do things here.. why are you all trippin all oer yourselves what was the point of the american revolution when you are right back to square one worshipping royalty here? Even we are a bit blase about the whole show .. its entertainment but thats all.. brings in the tourists and they are a nice couple but thats it. end of story..

Some of you idiots needs to get over yourselves. William and Kate are one of the most famous couples in the world and have a status like no other couple. I’m excited about the wedding but do not condone (IN ANY WAY) photogs going after them so I can peek into their lives. William and Kate are able to keep their wedding private, but THEY are choosing to have it broadcast all over the world. People are excited about a wedding of two people who have unique lives … Don’t get it twisted, nobody wants them killed for a photo! I hope William and Kate live happily ever after with Diana always close to their hearts!
