Jessica Simpson Building a $1 Billion Fashion Empire

Jessica Simpson to Launch Sportswear LineJamie McCarthy/WireImage

With her southern charm and girl-next-door appeal, it’s hard to believe that Jessica Simpson is in fact a fashion powerhouse, sitting at the helm of a nearly $1 billion empire. But with retail sales of her successful lifestyle brand totaling $750 million this year, that is precisely what her line of shoes, accessories, denim, swimwear, watches and fragrances have turned the newly-engaged star into, reports WWD. And her secret, according to Vince Camuto, founder and CEO of Camuto Group, the main licensee for Simpson-branded merchandise, is her approachability. “People like her,” he tells WWD. “People look at her as a style icon.” So much so that Jess is broadening her brand even further, launching a contemporary sportswear line of stylish separates including jackets, woven and knit bottoms, as well as tops and dresses, all priced from $39 to $129. “This new sportswear line reflects my evolving style, which combines comfort, femininity and flirty fun,” Jessica said in a statement. The new collection will be available at more than 650 specialty and department stores throughout the U.S. and Canada starting in the fall of 2011. Miranda Lambert’s Wedding Dress Will Show Off Her Curves, Friend Says

Miranda Lambert’s Wedding Dress Will Show Off Her Curves

Miranda Lambert has no trouble speaking her mind in her music, and on her wedding day, she’ll have no problem wearing a dress that features her curves. “She’s a real woman and I love that about her,” Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott said Monday at the American Country Awards, “so it will be something that shows off her curves.” Scott, along with her two bandmates, has been invited to attend the nuptials and has already begun planning her wedding gift for the pair. “They’re perfect for each other,” said Scott, who added that she’s thinking about getting them “some kind of pistol,” since “they like to hunt together.” Scott, however, may be putting more thought into the wedding than Lambert’s fiancé, Blake Shelton, who says he’s letting Lambert do all the planning. “Last I heard [the wedding date] was in the spring, but that’s a constantly changing event,” he said. “Miranda is going to do this exactly how she wants to do it and I’m staying the hell out of the way.” –Mark Gray

Lauren Hutton Shares Her Timeless Fashion Tips with J.Crew

Iconic Lauren Hutton Shares Her Timeless Fashion Tips on JCrew.com

At 67, Lauren Hutton is still going strong as a symbol of classic American beauty. You can often find her collaborating with another fashion stalwart, J.Crew, gracing its popular catalog pages with her ageless style. And now in a special JCrew.com feature, the famous model is given free reign to not only style her own outfits but also dispenses some tried-and-true fashion advice for anyone hoping to adopt her iconic – yet laidback – sensibility. “You never want to look like you’ve spent too much time getting dressed,” she says on the site. “It’s better to look as if you’ve just thrown something on rather than prissed everything up. I like when things are slightly off-kilter, asymmetrical and a little messed up.” Hutton puts her words of wisdom to work, piecing together nine different looks, donning everything from classic wool suiting to funky sequined track pants, which she pairs with a men’s thermal. And while Hutton always looks effortless in her sartorial approach, it certainly did not come to her overnight. “Developing your very best personal style – and that includes figuring out what works for your body type – involves a lot of trial and error. Youth is for trying absolutely everything.” To see more of Hutton’s inspirational feature, check out JCrew.com now! –Hana Choi

Lady Gaga Calls on Giorgio Armani to Outfit Her Monster Ball Tour

Last week we asked you to predict whose Grammy outfit would be the most outrageous, but pop’s favorite shock jock Lady Gaga is getting a head start this week, revealing the first of many one-of-a-kind Giorgio Armani looks. Created specifically for the singer’s impending global Monster Ball tour, the classic Italian designer, who created her iconic looks for this year’s Grammys, explained his ongoing collaboration with the quirky star. “Her energy, eccentricity and her extraordinary interpretative talent come over at their very best in a live context,” he said in a statement. And with that in mind, Armani created a structured mirrored mini dress, complete with a spectacular pyramid-like headpiece and glasses. “I am absolutely delighted to have contributed both clothes and accessories to these appearances.” And while Lady Gaga made an appearance with the designer in Milan over the weekend, those of us here in the U.S. will have to wait until February to get a peek at all of the over-the-top costumes. But for now, you can feast your eyes on the sketch that inspired the pop star’s outrageous look! Tell us: What do you think of Lady Gaga’s Armani look? –Justine Harman
