A-listers stepped out in their fashionable best for the 2010 Hollywood Style Awards in L.A. last night, with Gossip Girl‘s Katie Cassidy leading the pack. Dressed in a sexy black Edition by Georges Chakra gown, the TV vixen first caught our attention back in September when we named her an up and coming style star–and apparently, we’re not the only ones who think so! The actress picked up the women’s Style Icon to Watch award. Other fashion fixtures like Kate Bosworth, who wore a minimalist maxidress, and a Kimberly-Ovitz-clad Camilla Belle held their own–and revealed some of the stylish items at the top of their holiday wish lists. “Chloe. I’ve always loved Chloe,” Belle told PEOPLE of her pick, “so whenever they have a collection I’ll go. And there was a little bit of a trend of dresses over the pants…so I’m going to have to try that.” Other attendees included Gleeks like Lea Michele, and her winning co-star Cory Monteith, who was presented with the men’s Style Icon to Watch award by Selena Gomez. –Jessie Goldberg; reporting by Shayna Rose Arnold

Princess Style: All About Kate Middleton’s Engagement Photo Looks

All About Kate Middleton's Engagement Photo Looks
Mario Testino (2)

Despite the similarities between Kate Middleton and Princess Diana’s pale silk blouses in their official engagement portraits, when it comes to fashion, these two princesses are cut from a different cloth. Whereas Princess Diana wore an oyster pink crepe silk chiffon blouse with a ruffled collar designed by Elizabeth Emanuel (who went on to design her wedding gown), Kate chose a more modest vintage-inspired silk blouse from London high street chain Whistles—likely pulled from her own chic closet. Retailing for 95 pounds (about $151) when she originally bought it from the line’s fall/winter 2008 collection, Whistles will reissue a limited-edition “Kate” blouse in time for the April 29 royal wedding, “due to a surge in customer interest,” says the company’s CEO Jane Shepherdson. “These are the type of clothes Kate feels comfortable in. She didn’t stray too far from her personal style at all,” says stylist Nikki Pennie, who has worked with Kate in the past, even introducing her to Daniella Issa Helayel, designer of that now iconic blue dress. “It’s obviously a conscious effort to represent British brands and ones that are affordable too,” says Pennie.

Natalie Portman on Stepping Out in Custom Vegan Dior Shoes

Natalie Portman Has A Secret Spot for Scents
B. Ach/INF

With Oscar buzz surrounding her Black Swan performance and the recent announcement of her first major beauty contract, things are just Dior-ific for Natalie Portman these days. But the decision to represent any brand was not an easy one for the star to make. “It was definitely a war inside my head for a long time and finally, I was like, we can actually do something very positive with this, especially given the kind of company Dior is, which is truly elegant,” the 29-year-old actress told WWD Wednesday during the New York boutique’s reopening celebration. And the French fashion house took aptly stylish steps to keep their A-lister feeling comfortable about her role with them. “One of the things that’s been so nice is that Dior made all of the shoes for me with no animals and no leather or anything,” said the vegan actress, who designed her own line of leather-free shoes back in 2008. “They remade all of my shoes so I can wear Dior shoes without taking lives.” –Jessie Goldberg

Angelina Jolie’s ‘Tourist’ Style Secrets

Angelina Jolie might be one of modern cinema’s most iconic vixens, but when creating her look for the new movie The Tourist, her costume designer looked to classic film noir glamour. “My inspiration for [Jolie's character] Elise’s costumes were the Hitchcock movies: minimal elegance,” Academy Award-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood, who worked on the thriller, tells PEOPLE. In one scene, Jolie’s character dashes off to a ball in Venice, Italy, wearing a glamorous, flowing black gown topped off with a diamond-studded choker (below). “The black gown was designed to evoke the grand life, and to frame Angelina Jolie’s beauty,” Atwood explains. “The necklace was created by Robert Procop from an antique tiara, and [the diamonds were] definitely real!” Another eye-catching number from the film, an ivory sheath accented with a camel shawl and gloves (above), had a royal lineage as well. “That look was inspired by a dress designed by Irene [Lentz], who is a legendary costume designer,” Atwood says. “I took the basic idea and added some flair to contemporize it. The original had a jacket, but I really wanted something a little more luxurious, so I created the cashmere wrap. I’ve always loved a glove, and was filming in the land of fine gloves, so I used a fine suede glove to finish the look.” –Sara Hammel
