Speculation has been building on both sides of the Atlantic about London designer Bruce Oldfield—suddenly rumored to be the front-runner to design Kate Middleton’s wedding gown. The reason for all the hype? Just days ago fellow British designer Ben de Lisi (a red carpet favorite of Kate Winslet’s) reportedly told UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph, “There are lots of rumors [about who will design Kate’s dress], but I’ve heard it is Bruce Oldfield.” Fanning the flames is Oldfield’s refusal to issue a complete denial. “That’s just Ben’s opinion,” his rep told the paper. Oldfield has made no secret of his desire to design Kate’s gown, telling WWD: “If I was lucky enough to be asked, I’d be delighted. I’m already dressing her peers.” And then some: The couturier spent a decade designing for Princess Diana—helping to transform her, he has said, from “a baby” to a style icon. “Kate has such a gorgeous figure that she would look stunning in anything,” says Oldfield. “I would design a simple silhouette with sufficient detailing to give it a sense of occasion, but not so much as to drown her slight frame. Her dress might be traditional and elegant, possibly even demure, but I’m sure she would want a modern twist; a nod to fashion.” –Suzanne Zuckerman; reporting by Simon Perry SEE ALL THE SKETCHES IN DESIGNERS IMAGINE KATE MIDDLETON’S WEDDING GOWN!
Tis the season to get festive, and for perky songstress Katy Perry that means getting extra creative with her attire. This past weekend she hit her stride in four amazing, holiday-themed get-ups. First, on Dec. 5, the singer went for the Frosty the Snowman look at the Z100 Jingle Ball Snowman in L.A., rounding herself out with a roomy snowball dress topped with a jaunty top hat and festive scarf. Then, a few days later, she stepped out in a head-to-toe, figure-hugging candy cane costume as sleek as the confection itself, accented with a big red bow around her waist. The very next day Perry portrayed a naughty toy soldier, putting on a colorful, barely there outfit with shiny blue hotpants and red-and-gold epaulets, accessorized by a mustache-on-a-stick for the Z100 Jingle Ball in N.Y.C. The songstress rounded out the week in Miami on Saturday, playing a sexy version of Santa’s wife, donning a short red outfit with white furry trim. There was definitely no belly or bowl full of jelly on this Mrs. Claus. Tell us: Which is your favorite Katy Perry holiday look? Rihanna has had us on red alert for the past six months, ever since she stormed the stage in Spain debuting a fiery cropped coif. And while we never would have expected it from the ultimate style chameleon, she stayed true to the color for half of 2010, evolving the style from its original bowl cut, to an extra-long style before trimming it up and going crazy for curls. This week in London, however, the singer stepped out as a brunette–rocking the same bowl cut that was her signature style so many months ago. Later that day she made another public appearance that had her back to red. We always love seeing RiRi change up her style, but want to know what you think. Tell us: Do you prefer Rihanna as a brunette or a redhead?

Elegant, sophisticated and effortlessly chic are just some of the words used by fashion experts to describe Kate Middleton‘s classic sense of style. So when we heard that the princess-to-be had collaborated on a necklace design with jeweler Claudia Bradby, we couldn’t wait to share the details. The simple but feminine silver pendant was commissioned by Middleton back in 2007 for British retailer Jigsaw, where she worked as an accessories buyer. Originally for the teen market, the British designer has reissued the pendant with a longer chain to commemorate the royal engagement. “Kate was very clear in what she wanted,” Bradby told PEOPLE of Middleton’s involvement (they met three times during the design process). “She wanted a very simple bean pendant that a mother and daughter could both wear together,” she said, adding: “It was completely her initiative because she thought there was a gap in the market for something real and sophisticated, that had longevity for that age group.” And the final result? A silver bean pendant, rose quartz and freshwater charm on a silver chain, priced at 46 pounds ($73). Now fans of Prince William‘s fiancé can own a little piece of royal history themselves. “She is a classy girl and I genuinely remember thinking that William was very lucky to be going out with her – I thought she would be a huge asset to the royal family one day,” said Bradby.
