Leighton Meester Shares Her Winter Fashion Essentials

Leighton Meester Shares Her Current Fashion Must-Haves Marion Curtis/Startraks

With a closet full of uptown-appropriate outfits, Gossip Girl‘s resident queen bee Blair Waldorf may know a thing or two about fashion, but when it comes to personal style in real life, actress Leighton Meester is all about having a little edge. And now, just in time for the holiday shopping season, the style star is letting you in on some of her chic fashion finds, as a guest editor for WhoWhatWear.com. She masters the high-low mix with a $20 pair of sunglasses from Lanvin’s latest runaway hit collaboration with H&M (“These are great to throw on as I run out the door, they complete any look, and the price is right”), and shows us her humor with a pair of Jimmy Choo platforms with a Lucite heel (“I wore this tranny heel to the Country Music Awards with a Pucci gown and loved every minute of it.”). Other finds include an emerald YSL blouse, because after all, “what’s more practical than a sleeveless crew-neck in a luxe fabric?” and a sweet ruffled Marc Jacobs frock that she deems “the perfect dress for a tea party.” See more of Leighton’s curated favorites for every occasion at WhoWhatWear.com! Katy Perry’s Plan to Wear Latex as Long as She Can

Katy Perry is Dedicated to Wearing LatexJanet Mayer/Splash News Online

She’s one of Hollywood’s freest thinkers when it comes to fashion, and according to Katy Perry, her split-personality style started early. “I’ve always been girly…even though I was a tomboy,” the singer tells PEOPLE of her adolescent attitude. “My mother said when I was a kid, I was changing for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don’t make it a big deal, I just do it.” These days, the singer still has just as much fun with her carousel of daring looks–and she’s taking full advantage of the situation while she can still rock her wardrobe of kaleidoscopic latex dresses. “They have an expiration date and that’s why I’m wearing them now at 25,” she explains. “I’m such a sucker for a theme, so if I go somewhere like Vegas, I’ll dress like Vegas! Or if it’s Christmas time, I’ll dress like Mrs. Claus!” But, she says, her craziest costumes are reserved for the stage–at least most of the time. “I think sometimes with the themed stuff…’I won’t be wearing that to get my Starbucks today,’” before musing, “Although, maybe my whipped cream bra I’ll wear, because I’ll help [the baristas] out. ‘I got it! I got it! Hold the cream! No worries.’” –Christie LaRusso; reporting by Jackie Fields

Nicole Richie on Embracing a ‘More Outrageous the Better Mentality’

Fame

Nicole Richie may be known for her frequent hair changes and pending marital status to longtime beau Joel Madden, but these days, the 29-year-old mother of two is making fashion a very serious priority. The actress and former reality star is gearing up to add bags and sunglasses to her Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960 collections for spring and fall 2011 and is setting even bigger goals, including a possible cosmetics line, for the future, reports WWD. “I have been traveling all over the world, meeting with buyers, doing appearances and meeting my customers to get their feedback,” she tells the publication. “Now I feel I know them very well, and have been designing for them.” That includes a “more outrageous the better mentality,” which she will apply to jewelry and maybe even her new line of handbags. It’s also a style mantra that the star has embodied when it comes to her ever-changing hairstyles. “The fun part is experimenting with different looks. A month ago I had long dark hair and then I chopped it all off and bleached it blonde,” she says. “That’s what fashion is all about.” To read the complete interview, visit WWD.com. –Jessie Goldberg

Emma Watson Turns Her Nose Up at Celebrity Fragrances

Emma Watson on Celebrity Perfumes
Richie Buxo/Splash News Online

Harry Potter star Emma Watson may have fans clamoring to replicate her sophisticated style, but unlike some of Hollywood’s hot young things, she’s notoriously refused to lend her name to just any fashion or beauty project. And, she says, if there’s one form of celebrity licensing that truly confounds her, it’s celebrity scents. “I can’t understand this fragrance thing,” she tells the British Press Association. “Why would you want to smell like somebody else? Don’t you want to smell like yourself?” While Eau de Emma won’t be hitting beauty counters anytime soon, fashion collaborations are something she has been more open to, recently contributing and modeling for fair-trade clothing collection Free People and posing alongside younger brother Alex in a series of ads for luxury collection Burberry. “I love it, and I will continue to work in the fashion industry,” she says. “I am interested in ethical fashion, I want to make a difference and it’s nice to contribute.” –Justine Harman

Karl Lagerfeld to Design Capsule Collection for Macy’s

Karl Lagerfeld To Bring Fashion's Top Tier To Macy's George Napolitano/FilmMagic

Karl Lagerfeld is making his way to Macy’s! The mastermind behind Chanel’s coveted and ultra luxe designs is now set to bring his high-end expertise to the mainstream with a capsule collection for the retailer, reports WWD. Set to hit the racks next fall, Karl’s limited-edition line of women’s clothing comes as part of Macy’s new designer series, where the retailer will rotate different higher-end collections through their Impulse department every two months. And while this isn’t the Kaiser’s first time lending his couture touch to the mass market–he teamed up with H&M in 2004–we can’t wait to see what drool-worthy pieces he whips up for the retailer. “Karl Lagerfeld holds a unique place in the world of fashion, an icon who is the ultimate modernist,” Terry J. Lundgren, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Macy’s Inc. told WWD of the highly anticipated collaboration. And while details and prices have yet to be revealed, we wonder if Karl will channel Chanel or take an entirely new approach? Either way, we’re sure this is one collection that will be well worth every fashionista’s wait! –Jessie Goldberg
