EXCLUSIVE: Mondo Guerra on Designing a Dress for Heidi Klum in Just One Day!

Heidi Klum Shows Support for Runway Runner-Up Mondo Guerra!Jason Merritt/Getty

Mondo Guerra may have lost Project Runway, but he already has one big-name client: Heidi Klum. The TV hostess arrived at Thursday night’s Black Swan premiere in Los Angeles dressed in a variation of Guerra’s finale showpiece, a long, fitted black dress patterned with graphic white bubbles. Klum was a proponent of the Denver native throughout the competition, supporting him over eventual Runway winner Gretchen Jones in the show’s heated finale. “Mondo Guerra was a fan favorite, and one of my favorites as well,” Klum tells Modelinia.com. “I love his … gown; it really represents his design style, fun yet still chic.” Guerra exclusively tells PEOPLE that he just happened to be in Los Angeles this week when he got a fateful phone call. “As I was packing to come back to Denver my cell phone rang and a bright, cheery, ‘Hello’ greeted me, with a German accent,” he says. “I wasn’t sure who it was, but the next thing I knew, the voice on the other end was asking me, ‘Do you have my dress?’” Ready to drop everything for Klum, Guerra set up an immediate fitting, then jetted home to Denver and hit the fabric store. “The next morning I came back to my studio and made the dress, shipped it overnight for early morning delivery,” he shares. “I knew she had received the dress, but was she going to wear it?” The answer is now fabulously clear, although Guerra didn’t know until about 10 p.m. Thursday night, when friends started reaching out. “I opened Facebook and there on my page were pictures of Heidi wearing the dress,” he recalls. “I yelled, ‘She wore it!’ I slept very well last night.” Guest judge Jessica Simpson also called dibs on the dress during Runway‘s finale, so maybe Mondo’s phone will ring again soon? –Kate Hogan

John Galliano Takes Claridge’s Christmas Tree ‘Under the Sea’

John Galliano Takes Claridge's Chistmas Tree 'Under the Sea'

For last year’s holiday season, Christian Dior’s mastermind John Galliano designed a “frozen” Christmas tree for London’s famous Claridge’s hotel and this year, he is taking the tree under water–metaphorically speaking! The famed designer will dress the “Under the Sea” Christmas tree in sparkling silver leaves, pink coral, sea horses and starfish. And after its grand debut on Nov. 25, the hotel’s lobby will be transformed into a sea of Dior, helping guests and tourists alike spread their holiday cheer thanks to the touch of Mr. Galliano.

Pete Wentz Shouts Out Wife Ashlee’s Ability to Wear Her Hair Any Color

Pete Wentz Shouts Out Wife Ashlee's Ability to Wear Her Hair Any Color Frederick M. Brown/Getty

Pete Wentz sure doesn’t hold back when it comes to praising his love for Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. First, he revealed her new pixie cut via Twitter, and now the Fall Out Boy is elaborating on her sun-bleached look. “I love her haircut and I think that one of the things that she has going for her as far as hair is that she can wear her hair any style, any color,” he told PEOPLE at the VH-1 Save the Music Gala in New York on Monday. And if you sense a little jealousy in Pete, you’re on the right track. “If I bleached my hair, all of a sudden I look like Charlie Brown,” he joked. “My wife is the hottest woman I know, so it’s rad.” Although it may seem like the 31-year-old musician’s admiration for his wife’s look is biased, his signature jet black spiked hair and rock star clad hoodies and bomber jackets give him the right to dish style advice. And while he does love Ashlee’s drastic beauty switch up, her body part that’s most sacred to him is a little more permanent–and!–a little bit Twilight. “Her neck’s one of my favorite parts of her body. Not in a vampire way. She’s got a nice neck,” he says. –Jessie Goldberg; reporting by Mary S. Park

Kate Bosworth and Rachel Bilson’s ‘BFF & Baby’ Style Secrets

Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage

Kate Bosworth, Krysten Ritter and Rachel Bilson (below) do just fine in the fashion department but for their upcoming film, BFF & Baby, they let wardrobe designer Ilaria Urbinati take creative control. “Rachel’s character is a lot more insouciantly sexy than the other girls. Her style is very off-the-bus from Omaha,” Ilaria told PEOPLE of dressing Bilson’s petite frame in gingham, denim and cotton in the film–think Daisy Duke meets Brigitte Bardot. But the down-home look didn’t go without a high-end touch. “Rachel is wearing a lot of vintage, denim lines like Current/Elliott, accessories from Bare Collection and Christian Louboutin wedges,” Ilaria said. And unlike Rachel, who Ilaria has known for years and says is “game for whatever,” the stylist had never met Kate before. Bosworth, whose BFF & Baby look is crisp, clean and angular, has a character who “is pretty much 99 percent Calvin Klein collection and Jimmy Choo accessories,” she said. Krysten’s girl-next-door look called for the most wardrobe changes. “She wears a myriad of young designers like Rebecca Minkoff, Jill Stuart, Vena Cava and more reasonably priced labels including Mink Pink, Asos, Keds and–well–a lot of my personal clothes,” said Ilaria, who owns hip L.A. boutique Confederacy. And while the characters did overlap with D&G and Dolce lingerie and knits, their diverse onscreen backgrounds called for three separate styles which all sound pretty fabulous! –Jessie Goldberg

Emma Watson Talks Short Hair at ‘Harry Potter’ Premiere

Getty

Emma Watson may be appearing in what is sure to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, but she’s still having to deal with a few mixed reviews — on her short pixie cut from earlier this year! “Generally the reaction’s been positive but it’s a bit of a shock for some people because it’s different,” Watson told reporters. The young star has admitted she chopped her hair off for the first time at 20 years old simply because she was allowed to, now that her time as bushy-haired Hermione Granger had come to an end. But what about taking that darling do bright red or platinum blonde? “I’m very into looking natural so probably not but never say never,” Watson demurred. One thing that is certain is the thrill of the first of the two-part finale hitting theaters. “It gets bigger every year. I can’t believe it. The adrenaline from doing this is pretty crazy,” Watson said. “I feel like I’m about to go over the top of a rollercoaster.” At least she has the stylish wardrobe part of the red carpet rush nailed down, looking perfectly fun and fashionable in her vintage black lace by Rafael Lopez for Atelier Mayer and Charlotte Olympia heels. Kim Kardashian Jewelry Bebe MouawadFrazer Harrison/Getty

Call it Kim Kardashian‘s first solo sparkle! The mogul in the making is branching out from her bauble-designing sisters with a jewelry line for bebe that’s all her own–and she’s sharing a first look at a couple of the stand-out pieces (below). “I like simple outfits with fabulous accessories,” Kim told PEOPLE in May of knowing exactly where she’d take the debut collection’s aesthetic. To create the affordable statement pieces, set to hit stores November 18th, Kim paired with designer Pascal Mouawad to create three distinct looks: ’30s-inspired Lucite-and-gunmetal sparklers, resin-and-enamel ’60s-style pieces, and Moroccan-based bling (including belly chains!). Kardashian and Mouawad also plan to launch her higher-end line Belle Noel in January, but at $24 to $98, their upcoming bebe collection is a bit easier on the wallet. The current Big Apple babe will launch the bebe jewels in New York November 16th, but out-of-town fans can pick up their own pieces on bebe.com or in bebe stores November 18th. –Jessie Goldberg
