While it sold out within hours in London, American women coveting the blue Issa dress Kate Middleton wore to announce her engagement are in luck: Starting immediately, reservations can be placed on the $535 long-sleeved silk-jersey dress on net-a-porter.com, with orders expected to be shipped in January. For those of you lucky enough to be in London, you can pop into Harvey Nichols, Matches or Fenwick on Bond Street (where it’s believed the princess-to-be picked up hers), but expect to be put on the wait list as this dress has gained superstar status, with high street copies selling out everywhere since that historic Nov. 16 announcement. And while that particular dress has caused a global sensation, designer Daniella Helayel refuses to comment on whether it’s hers or Kate’s favorite. “I don’t have a favorite,” Helayel tells PEOPLE exclusively from her Chelsea studio, where the phone has been ringing off the hook since that appearance. “I always admire the styles and colors Kate chooses to wear. She has great taste.” –Suzanne Zuckerman; reporting by Monique Jessen

It is a beautiful dress. :)

Lena on

Wow the media really going to try and shove this woman down people’s throat.

Lainey on

It’s gorgeous…if I had the money, I would be first in line!

Jordan on

Gorgeous dress!
Now I just need the figure to be able to wear it correctly :)

I actually love her shoes more. I’ve seen several pictures with her wearing them. They’re classic black, but perfect look to them.

Antonia on

Not particularly fond of the dress…too stuffy for me

April on

Well you won’t have to fight me for that dress… looks like something a 60 year old woman would wear…. kate’s a beauty but the dress did nothing for her.

Dotti Charlee on

True Lena, the media won’t leave her alone and in turn we have to read about her every day… apparently no one has learned anything from the tragedy of Di… The dress is ok…it’s pretty…if I saw it on the rack pre-engagement I would probably not have purchased it. It’s too pleated.

It went so well with her eyes….and the ring.

didiwags on

I dont really dig it, maybe it is just the color!! Looks great on her though!

Gina on

Either you love it or hate it – I think its looks nice on her

Diane on

@Lena-I couldn’t agree with you more! I’m sick of hearing about her and William. It’s gotten REALLY old!

Kate on

Lena…nobody is shoving Kate Middleton down people’s throats. They print it…YOU read it!!

Kim on

It’s a beautiful dress and she looked quite “royal” in it. Afraid I can’t afford over $500 for a dress though.

mcwrixon on

I love the dress – and hope it will be made and available in other colors.. and perhaps a price can be made affordable…

The market would be there : )

Jon on

That’s great to hear!

Chiara on

Still on the wait list at net-a-porter.com–wish I was in the UK to see if it is still available over there in the high street stores.

Jennifer on

The dress is beautiful! Kate always looks great!

Princess Victoria on

Kate’s dress seems to be brighter than the recreation….either way I would still buy it if I could afford to waste my money on pretty dresses. =)

That is NOT the same style dress. The waist is completely different…

Honestly the blue dress was average, I would not purchase it, for the fallowing reasons:
a) She’s too skinny and the dress was fitted for her
b)It’s just not that great of a dress..
c)Reminds me of something someone in her fifties would wear..
When Diana wore the Black Taffeta ball gown, that was stunning and still stylish!!

Leslee on

She could wear a potato sack and look great. I really love the blue, such a deep and rich hue.

Yes,it’s conservative, but it was for an occasion that was to be for the books, literally and figuratively. Understated was appropriate, especially given the fact she is a “commoner” was more or less being officially introduced to the public for the first time.

If the dress could magically transform my figure to look like hers, I would wear it every day for the rest of my life :)

Andie on

The dress looks different than Kate’s — the bodice, color and material all seem different.

Brooke on

Uh….no thanks….Its a bridesmaid dress from the 90′s. I already gave all of mine like it to Goodwill.

Why are all the famous dresses blue? Just a thought.

Really To Buy Kate Middleton’s Exact Issa Engagement Dress
By D.K. Milgrim-Heath©2010
Really to buy Kate Middleton’s exact Issa engagement dress-
Is a beautiful honor honoring Kate like a future princess more or less!
Of course Kate will be forever synonymous with this beautiful style-
As she wore it proudly giving the world her newly engaged woman’s smile!
The price of this dress for the average female is rather steep-
But dreams of beauty of you in it is something you’ll always keep.
Maybe ‘your prince’ as Kate’s pre-destined one will appear?
Will your love as Prince William’s is to Catherine be as sincere?
Of course some dreams really happen they somehow finally come true-
By buying this exact Issa dress can these dreams appear for you?

shalie on

This dress is not that great. Who is the media trying to fool.

Kat on

I don’t envy this girl for a moment, becoming a princess in this day and age, paparazzi everywhere and every detail of her life under a microscope. That kind of lifestyle would drive a lot of people nuts. I hope she has nerves of steel… literally!

ellen on

It is a beautiful color and design but one similar was seen at Macy’s for much less for you bargainista’s

goaliemom on

I think the color is nice but the dress itself looks like it should be on a more mature woman. It made her look old.

Lisa on

It’s a shame how people run out to buy look-alike clothing from celebrities and royals. It’s asign of how sad ad desperate people are to connect to someonw famous. How many will now schedule their wedding for Aril 29th? Doing so won’t make you close to them at all. Kate doesn’t know and won’t know half the idiots who are doing this, but the retailers are laughing all the way to the bank. Hahaha!

Alexandra on

The dress is beautiful! I would have liked it even if Ms. Middleton / Princess Catherine had not worn it. The colour is perfect, and it has sleeves (!), and a nice neckline. The skirt has a nice amount of room, and the folds fall well. The intricate design on the top is truly “haute couture”, and very exciting to see in ANY Dress. I only wish it had been a bit longer, (say 3-4 inches below the knee.) No disrespect — but there is ONE joke only that I remember from the old Benny Hill Show. It went: Q: Why is clothing a lady wears like a lunchmeat sandwhich? A: Because it’s below knee. (Baloney, get it!) I hope though, that this wonderful dress will start a trend wherein SLEEVES once again show up on most dresses. (Incredible that even WEDDING dresses usually don’t have sleeves, now.) I hope slightly longer versions of this dress will appear….in larger sizes, too. Thanks stylenews. And thanks — and many congratulations, best wishes, and hopes for the future, to Ms. Middleton / Princess Catherine!

Alexandra on

To Andie and Princess Victoria: I checked, and I looked, and you are both RIGHT! The dress Kate is wearing is more of a dark, turquoise colour, an the material has a SHEEN, whilst the “copy” is a duller light slate blue, with NO sheen. but the REALLY strange part is that the bodice of the dress Kate is weraing seems much PLAINER!

Alexandra on

Sorry, my computer had a glitch, so I had to stop.
To continue……… I also notice that the SKIRT of the dress that Ms. Middleton is wearing has NO PLEATS! Except for the fabric and colouring, though, it seems that the COPY is a more intricately-designed, and difficult-to-sew dress than the original that Ms. Middleton is wearing. Curiouser and curiouser…. Not only this, but a lady recently put up a dress she says she bought for a wedding a few months ago. It seems that she and Ms. Middleton have the same tastes…because it’s the same dress. (Also the same dual-picture as abobe appeared on Ebay.) It may be just the lighting in the two pictures that acounts for the difference in hue…but the sheen?
And the design differences? It’s almost as if Ms. Middleton’s design had slipped out to the press ahead of time, so copies were rushed out to be made. But then, maybe she ripped the dress or spilt something on it, a few hours before the announcement. So, slightly plainer version of the dress, (in an equally as equisite fabric), was sewn up at the very last moment! At least, this seems the only plausible theory to me….

AC on

@Abby- The waist is completely different because the dress can twist differently in the waist part.
