Like most teenagers growing up, Twilight star Ashley Greene experimented with clothes and makeup, but don’t expect to find her on any best-dressed lists in her high school yearbook. “I think the worst thing looking back is old high school photos–just because I think everything was overdone. It just really wasn’t me,” said Greene, brand ambassador for Avon-owned Mark beauty, at an event at the Glass House in N.Y.C. earlier this month. “I was just a hot mess!” Now a celebrated style star gracing the pages of glossies and ad campaigns, Greene describes her current look as “ever changing and evolving,” telling the audience, “I am a big jeans and T-shirt girl, but I like to dress it up with accessories and scarves, great boots, great bags just to accessorize it a little bit.” And while Greene, 23, loves to play with fashion, she is quite serious when it comes to empowering young women. “I want to use this platform to encourage young women to be self-confident,” explained Greene, who went for a natural look at Thursday’s event, except for her reddish-plum lipstick. “I have learned that whenever you finally embrace yourself, is when you are truly comfortable.” –Jenisha Watts

‘Hot Mess’, lols, great title. Love reading about celeb style growth and that plum lip takes her whole look from prim to provacative.

The buzz on Ashley is everywhere – and who knew that the beautiful, fashionable person she is today was not the case in high school?! Wow! But, I must say, what really makes Ashley such a ‘shining star’ is her desire to empower young women to find the confidence within. I think she’s well on her way…I’ll definitely continue following her career. All the best Ashley!

The evolution of style continues! Great article that truly shows how the style continuum has a place for us all at certain periods in our fashion life. Kudos to Ashley for using her endorsement to empower and influence impressionable young women.

I think Ashley looks stunning. You would have never known she was a “hot mess!” The past is best kept where it belongs… in the past!

I find Ashley Greene to be so refreshing–she is a beautiful young lady, and she seems to be so down to earth and real. She strikes me as a “what you see is what you get” kind of girl, and that speaks volumes. Her style has evolved since the first Twilight movie, and she looks great!
