What does one wear to announce her own royal wedding to Prince William in front of cameras around the world? While it would send most of us mere mortals into a wardrobe meltdown, Kate Middleton simply called upon her favorite brand Issa. The London-based fashion label has become the Brit’s go-to designer of choice over the years, thanks to her love of their elegant wrap dresses and glamorous evening gowns. Opting for one of their classic silk jersey dresses in navy (all the better to sparkle against that dazzling blue sapphire engagement ring) and simple black pumps–her look was princess perfect. As pictures of the happy couple at St. James Palace were beamed across the globe on Tuesday evening, Issa designer and Middleton friend Daniella Helayel told PEOPLE she couldn’t be happier that one of her dresses had been chosen for such a momentous occasion. “We are thrilled with the engagement news and I’m very happy that she has chosen to wear Issa today,” adding, “She is a very pretty and lovely girl.” Fueling speculation that the bride-to-be will wear Issa on her wedding day, Middleton recently wore a bespoke dress that Brazilian-born Helayel whipped up especially for her (based on a dress Middleton already had in her closet). But as dress predictions mount, we’ll simply have to wait and see. One thing we can be sure of is that a style icon is emerging and this one is here to stay. –Monique Jessen

A stunning couple! I wish them both the best! Cheers to a blessed marriage!

Why is it necessary to insult people you don’t know? I’m not talking about the royalty…souschef, why would it matter to you where someone shops? Whether they shop at Chanel or Goodwill doesn’t change who they are as people. Besides, there is something to be said for those that would rather spend their money on more important things than labels. Say what you will but if I were you, I would be concerned with how my friends and family perceive you. Someday, you will have to answer for the way you have treated others and I hope that you have a valid explanation for being so mean!

I disagree with those who feel he was coerced into this, they dated for 8 years! He wanted to make sure this was right because I’m suspecting he has no desire to go down the same path his parents did. I, for one, can 100% relate to them. My husband & I dated for 7 1/2 yrs. before we got engaged. We were young, just like Kate & William, when we started dating (me-18, hubs-21) had we married any sooner we would likely not be the couple we are today. I think they are truly in love & their outcome will be the complete opposite of Charles & Diana. Diana is smiling from above, no doubt!

William & Kate are very independent people that love eachother and want to spend the rest of their lives together! They were no going to let a sagging economy or building pressure from anyone decide when the time was right! They are both in this for the long haul and body language (because they were’nt gropping & drooling all over eachother ,it’s a pressured into choice) shows they are in this together but have independence also! This is a royal love story that will end in a Happily Ever After <3

Congratulations to the happy couple and can we please not add anything else into the mix? Maybe you adored Diana but she’s been gone 13 years and that young man of 16 has developed into the man he is today with guidance from his father and others. The majority of us love/loved our mothers but she doesn’t play the major part in everything we do forever.

@Dee C. Burns(very clever name)you clearly took the time away from reading “real news” to read this article if you are commenting on it. Go spew your negativity and hypocrisy elsewhere. To those who have nothing but negative things to say about this lovely couple … if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all. Best wishes to this beautiful couple who have taken the time to settle into a happy, comfortable relationship together to ensure a lifetime of happiness together.
