What does one wear to announce her own royal wedding to Prince William in front of cameras around the world? While it would send most of us mere mortals into a wardrobe meltdown, Kate Middleton simply called upon her favorite brand Issa. The London-based fashion label has become the Brit’s go-to designer of choice over the years, thanks to her love of their elegant wrap dresses and glamorous evening gowns. Opting for one of their classic silk jersey dresses in navy (all the better to sparkle against that dazzling blue sapphire engagement ring) and simple black pumps–her look was princess perfect. As pictures of the happy couple at St. James Palace were beamed across the globe on Tuesday evening, Issa designer and Middleton friend Daniella Helayel told PEOPLE she couldn’t be happier that one of her dresses had been chosen for such a momentous occasion. “We are thrilled with the engagement news and I’m very happy that she has chosen to wear Issa today,” adding, “She is a very pretty and lovely girl.” Fueling speculation that the bride-to-be will wear Issa on her wedding day, Middleton recently wore a bespoke dress that Brazilian-born Helayel whipped up especially for her (based on a dress Middleton already had in her closet). But as dress predictions mount, we’ll simply have to wait and see. One thing we can be sure of is that a style icon is emerging and this one is here to stay. –Monique Jessen

He needs some serious orthodonture. This is another sham of a royal wedding. Couldn’t he afford to buy her a nicer ring? That thing screams 1980. Is the band yellow gold? Yuck if it is. Good luck honey – this is yet another royal loser.

Well said Elizabeth. I’m very happy for them…it’s about time! There’s no need to be cynical. They’ve waited 8 years to make sure it’s the real deal and still decide to go ahead and tie the knot. This means their relationship is strong and it’ll last. Besides, they’ve been living together, so they’re practically married already. What a beautiful engagement ring, can’t wait to see Kate’s wedding dress :)

Am I the only one who has noticed she has lost a considerable amount of weight over the last few years? I see no one has commented on it. She was/is a beautiful young lady before & now. Just sayin’… I congratulate them & wish them a very happy life together.

I am so excited that there will be another royal wedding, I remember when Pricess Di and Charles were married a long time ago. Kate is a beautiful woman and I am sure Diana would be so proud of her son.

Ahh,,Jennifer, the body language expert. WRONG. Better get your book back out honey. They act perfectly relaxed and happy around each other. And notice how his head is tipped TOWARD her?? Body language readers say that’s a GOOD thing.

To souschef, lets see a picture of your teeth so we can all pass our opinions. His look fine to me, and I’m married to a dentist. As for the wedding band, yes, it will be a simple gold band. ALL the royal family have their wedding bands made from the same large piece of gold. It’s royal family tradition. BTW, I have a simple gold band..been wearing it 37 years.

There is volcanic ash spewing, there was an explosion at a resort in Mexico killing several vacationers, there are mines in countries killing innocent people, there are rainforests being destroyed and countless animals becoming extinct. These are only a few issues which warrant our attention. A Royal Wedding on the horizon, is that really the best news article which garners your focus? Wake up and smell the real world folks, in the grand scheme of things, this matters about as much as a “news” item in the Enquirer. Grow up and start giving a damn about real news.
