POLL: Who Will Design Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress?

11/16/2010 at 04:15 PM ET

Vote on Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress Designer
Mark Stewart

Now that Prince William and Kate Middleton are officially engaged, the fashion world is abuzz with speculation as to who will get to design the future princess’s dress. Will Middleton’s favorite designer, Daniella Issa Helayel, have a shot at creating the gown? British oddsmakers Ladsbroke certainly seem to think so, tapping the Brazilian founder of the Issa fashion label as the 3-to-1 favorite to get the nod. This comes after Middleton, 28, wore a stunning blue dress tailor-made by Helayel to the wedding of William’s friend Harry Meade last month, as well as selecting one of her designs for her first official photos as royal fiancée! Stella McCartney is seen as the next likeliest choice, at odds of 4-to-1, followed by other British designers Julien Macdonald (6-to-1), Vivienne Westwood (8-to-1), John Galliano (14-to-1) and Paul Smith (16-to-1). Grouped together at 20-to-1 odds are Giorgio Armani, Vera Wang and Versace. As is traditional, the broker is also offering some less-than-serious wagering options, dangling 1000-to-1 odds that Middleton will wear “a tracksuit or shellsuit” in front of the billions of admirers on her special day. Tell us: Who do you think will design Kate Middleton’s wedding dress? Vote below! –Tim Nudd

Rather than go with the well known designers mentioned in all the news stories , maybe she should go with a young designer like Stewart Parvin. His wedding dresses are elegant, beautifully crafted and I think she would look stuuning in one of his gowns.

Think I read somewhere that her favorits designer is Issa..Whatever she wears, I’m sure that she will be beautiful (more so)…

Definitely Issa will design Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress, but we’ll see?

I think she should go with a more “now and hip” designer – like Jason Wu. I don”t want to see her in a “formal gown” like Diana’s – that was ok for then, but this young woman needs something more updated. She oozes “youthful radiance” – keep the designer more hip.

She should wear which ever designer she chooses too. So many of the wedding details are going to be out of her hands. I believe that this is one choice that should definitely be hers.

Nothing says elegant like Vera Wang

If they are smart, they’ll elope and avoid the pomp and circumstance; then it won’t matter what she wears! They managed to keep their engagement out of the public eye for almost a month; it would be amazing if they could have a private married life for at least a little while.
