Kate Bosworth Praises Proenza Schouler’s ‘Effortless’ Designs

Gregory Pace/BEImages

When it comes to red-carpet style-stars, Kate Bosworth is one actress that designers can’t wait to drape in their newest creations — and she happily returns the love, especially, it seems, when it comes to Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. “They’re so effortless,” Kate told PEOPLE yesterday at the Fashion Group International Night of Stars at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, where the duo were celebrated as the Star Honorees for Fashion. “True artists. I’m so excited to see what they do every season,” Bosworth enthused. “And they know if I’m not there in person, I dissect their collection online. I so look forward to it. It’s incredible.” She even pow-wowed with the designers that very night before selecting the orange and pink Proenza Schouler shift that she wore to the event. “Literally, I showed up and they said, “’This is what we’re thinking.’ And I said, ‘Great, I love it!’ That was it,” she said. “We know her pretty well,” commented McCollough. “She’s pretty easy to dress. We know what looks good on her. We showed her a few things and everything fit perfectly. She makes our job really easy.” Added Hernandez: “We could have used any of them.” For her part, Kate couldn’t have asked for a better setting for her new frock. “I just get to be their date, which makes me very happy.” –Jeffrey Slonim

Elizabeth Banks’ Surprise Role–Barneys Window Model!

How much is that big movie star in the window? “It was really fun,” Elizabeth Banks tells PEOPLE of posing in the Barney’s Diego Della Valle window display on Madison Avenue as part of the store’s Wednesday celebration of Diego Della Valle’s Visionary Award. The 30 Rock star praised her partner in crime for the night, Barney’s Creative Director, Simon Doonan. “I’m a fan of Simon and I had no idea that I would get to stand in the Barneys’ window that he designed, but I feel that it’s pretty iconic.” And it turns out that Banks is not only a fan of Barneys, but of Tod’s and the company’s chairman Valle. Banks explains, “I’m a fan of Diego’s and I’m here to congratulate him on his award. I love the consistency of the brand, it started out as a driving shoe. It’s very Italian but in a way that means luxury, which I love.” Banks, clad in a Max Mara dress and Tod’s accessories, even showed off her new favorite piece from the line to PEOPLE, enthusing, “I wore a Tod’s trench coat tonight that I’m pretty excited about it. This is a hood that zips onto it and zips over and then down the front as well so it becomes an entire panel piece with a hood that’s really amazing. It’s like two coats in one.” – Mary S. Park

Nick Cannon Gets ‘High-Heel Queen’ Mariah Carey to Wear Flats!

Picture Perfect

Mariah Carey is likely to have some aching feet as her pregnancy progresses, and her husband isn’t going to let her suffer –- even if it means he has to be her personal shopper. Nick Cannon described a mini battle the pair had the day before, admitting to being flabbergasted by his wife’s shoe collection. “I come home yesterday to help my wife get ready for her video shoots and she has these 19-inch heels on,” he grumbled good-naturedly on a phone call with his wife, who called into his 92.3 WXRM-FM radio show “Rollin with Nick Cannon” on Friday. Carey defended herself, explaining the heels were only for a job. But, Cannon continued, “So I go into the closet searching for some flats for my wife … She got a lot of damn shoes — it’s like a frickin’ Macy’s. [And] Mariah Carey does not own one pair of flat shoes.” Carey corrects him, “To be fair, I had some boots from Aspen, some Dior boots.” “Ski boots!” Cannon argues. Carey says, “And then we did find some flats and then they were a regular ballet slipper, like a beige, and I was like, ‘I don’t think so.’” Cannon says he finally got her to wear flats -– in the form of ski boots. “Basically, I got Mariah Carey, the high-heel queen, to put on some flats. And this is amazing. I’m going shoe shopping today, needless to say, to buy you some flat shoes.” Carey seemed charmed by the idea, but it remains to be seen if the glam singer — who even travels with only heels in her suitcase — will actually be out and about in flats anytime soon. — Sara Hammel

Kim Kardashian’s Dream Day Off: Overalls and Disneyland!

Donna Ward/Getty

Kim Kardashian might be one of Hollywood’s most glamorous stars, but when no one’s watching, she loves leaving the glitz behind. “It’s kind of refreshing just to put my hair up in a ponytail at nighttime,” she tells PEOPLE at an event in N.Y.C. on Tuesday celebrating the launch of her eponymous signature scent at Macy’s stores. “I feel a lot sexier without makeup on — but in my room at home.” And while Kim does admit, “I just love to glam,” if she could slip away from the paparazzi for just one day, she says, “I would literally wear overalls, Converse or Adidas sneakers!” But it wouldn’t be the first time the queen of skin-tight dresses rocked the down-home look, although as you’d expect, she gave it her own sexy spin. “I used to wear cute tight ones! I don’t own them [now] but I used to, and they were cute. We would always wear them, me and all of my friends, wear them to Magic Mountain. I would love to go to Disneyland or Magic Mountain, it would be a dream,” she muses. Shop Kim’s signature scent, now at Macys.com. –Jessie Goldberg
