Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss and More Pay a Final Tribute to Alexander McQueen

London Fashion Week came to a solemn standstill on Monday morning as more than 1000 friends, family and colleagues paid tribute to the late designer Alexander McQueen during a memorial service at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral. Dressed in black, with hats and skyscraper heels as the dress code of choice, pals such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Stella McCartney gathered for the emotional hour-long service to remember the iconic British designer who tragically committed suicide seven months ago. Remembering his fashion legacy, the Reverend Canon Giles Fraser told the congregation: “We give thanks for his creative mind, his showmanship, and for his capacity to shock,” while also acknowledging his troubled past and reclusive nature, he said: “It was a life lived in the public gaze, but it was as vulnerable and retiring as it was glamorous.” The eulogies were led by Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, one of McQueen’s first employers. “She told a story about how he couldn’t do the job as it would mean he wouldn’t be able to get his dole [unemployment benefit] money,” one guest told PEOPLE, adding: “but she was quick to say how they always forgave him and how extraordinarily gifted he was.”

Fashionista to Watch: ‘The Town’ Star Rebecca Hall

Startraks; WireImage; Landov

There aren’t many starlets who can step in for fashion darling Blake Lively, but from the moment Rebecca Hall took the spotlight for her absent The Town costar at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month, it was love at first sight. Those sleeves! That neckline! The 28-year-old English actress, who has made former premiere turns alongside style veterans Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, sparkled in an eye-catching blue Vionnet gown for the Venice premiere. Then, just days later, Rebecca painted the Toronto Film Festival red, sizzling in all the right places with a bold, black-trimmed Yves Saint Laurent design. And the cherry on top of her chic premiere week? A candy apple red-and-hot pink Bottega Veneta frock–a playful pick for the film’s American premiere on Tuesday at director and co-star Ben Affleck‘s beloved Fenway Park in Boston. With The Town coming in at number one at the box office this weekend, as well as generating strong Oscars buzz, this definitely won’t be the last we see of this fashionista on the rise on the red carpet. Martha Stewart Hits Primetime with Design’s Leading Ladies

Stuart Ramson

If you didn’t get your fill during N.Y.C. fashion week, mark your calendar for Sunday night to watch Martha Stewart’s first primetime special, Martha Stewart Presents: The Women Who Dress America, featuring N.Y.C.’s leading ladies of design: Donna Karan, Diane Von Furstenberg, Tory Burch and Jenna Lyons of J.Crew. And you might surprised at what the domestic doyenne finds out from these iconic women! Donna Karan, for instance, who is now known for her masterful draping of jersey, admits “Yes. I failed draping [in design school]. So I think that’s probably my obsession. What we don’t do well in, you say, ‘I’m going to get that one!’” Diane von Furstenberg reflects on the enduring appeal of her signature wrap dress: “When you start things in life, you start a little bit as an amateur no matter what. And you just go forward, and then all of a sudden you become a professional. Almost 40 years later, and the one dress that I created is still valid today.” But even more exciting for Diane than just loving what she does, is having a company of strong women. “You’ll see in my office. I have all these young girls and it’s like a beehive…And you know what I always say, which is not only true, I say that most of the men in my company drive or clean.” Tune in on Sunday night at 9 PM EST on the Hallmark Channel for more.

Gwen Stefani’s Hairstylist is Part of the Family

Justin Campbell/BuzzFoto/FilmMagic

Gwen Stefani has no shortage of fans, but there’s one in particular that she always keeps close to her heart–and head! The designer’s longtime hairstylist Danilo was backstage at the designer’s L.A.M.B. show during New York Fashion Week, creating messy, ethnically-inspired braids for Gwen’s stable of models–and for the superstar herself. Aptly enough, the duo got their start working together at a fashion show years ago. “I was backstage doing hair for Vivienne Westwood, and [Gwen's] makeup artist at the time really wanted us to meet,” Danilo told PEOPLE of their first encounter. “Little did either of us know that it would be a mad love affair.” He continued, “We’re close. We do everything together. And we can’t get enough of it. We wish there was more to do. I get along with the husband, the kids, everybody. They have definitely been my second family.” Stefani returns the compliment, both professionally and personally. “He’s back there right now, making it all happen,” said Stefani enthusiastically, “I love him.” –Jeffrey Slonim

Frazer Harrison/Getty

She might be busy dodging pregnancy rumors, but there’s one ‘baby’ in Mariah Carey‘s life that she’s more than happy to own up to. The diva has just announced the launch of a new lifestyle collection for shopping network HSN. Debuting on the channel on November 29, the collection will include footwear, jewelry and fragrance, WWD reports. And while all the details on the collaboration are still forthcoming, Mariah’s line will feature jewelry that ranges from $40 to $200, including pieces that incorporate her signature butterfly motif. Shoes will start at $70 and top out at $170. The final piece of the Mimi puzzle will be a limited-edition version of her Lucscious Pink fragrance.
