Gaga’s VMA Dress: It’s Real Meat!

Landov

She’s a meat-loving little monster! Lady Gaga may have worn three over-the-top outfits at Sunday’s Video Music Awards, but it was her third and final dress—made out of real meat and designed by Franc Fernandez–that got butchered the most. Gaga sat down with Ellen DeGeneres for the season 8 premiere of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday to explain the controversial creation: “Well, it’s certainly no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian. I, as you know, am the most judgment-free human being on the earth,” Gaga told Ellen. “However, it has many interpretations, but for me this evening, if we don’t stand up for what we believe in, if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones,” said the songstress, who then held up the recent Vogue Japan cover on which she wore a meat bikini. “And I am not a piece of meat!” Up next for Gaga? Possibly the vegetarian-friendly bikini designed by Ellen Degeneres. Check it out in this video clip below. Tell us: What do you think of Lady Gaga’s meaty fashions? –Jessie Goldberg

Zac Efron Debuts a Beard: Love It or Hate It?

Francois Durand/Getty

First he shared the secret to his tousled locks, then he changed up his style to create his own brand of faux-hawk–and now, Zac Efron is trying out some serious facial hair! The actor heated up the Deauville American Film Festival in France on Saturday, when he debuted a new, neatly cropped beard during a photocall for his movie Charlie St. Cloud. And while Zac’s new look is nothing like the grizzled–and occasionally beaded!–beard that fellow actor Brad Pitt recently abandoned, the manly mustache and mostly-full beard marks a definite departure from his usual clean-shaven, baby-faced look. Tell us: Do you prefer Zac Efron fresh-faced or bearded?–Katherine Kluznik Rentmeester

Tommy’s Time: Stars Celebrate Hilfiger’s 25th Anniversary with Mega-Bash

JGregory Pace/BEImages; Splash News Online

After packing the front row with the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Bradley Cooper, Lenny Kravitz, Christina Hendricks and more, Tommy Hilfiger and his famous friends headed across the plaza at Lincoln Center to the Metropolitan Opera House to celebrate his brand’s 25th Anniversary on Sunday night. And though it was time to party, no one could stop talking about Hilfiger’s vibrant runway show from earlier that evening. “I loved it,” Christina Hendricks, who donned a Tommy Hilfiger dress she took right off the rack, gushed to PEOPLE. “It was very yummy and fun and bright and light savory.” Kristen Bell, who gave a crisp tuxedo blazer and white shirt a fresh edge with sequined black shorts, also praised the designer’s use of color. “I thought it was delicious. I loved the whole red, white and blue feel. I very much gravitate toward the all-American which is kind of Tommy’s M.O.,” she told PEOPLE. And for some stars, it wasn’t just about the clothes coming down the catwalk. For former model Rebecca Romijn, it was really about the man behind the designs. “I love Tommy Hilfiger himself,” she told PEOPLE. “And I’m grateful to him and what he’s done for my career. I’m happy to be here.” –Andrea DeSimone; reporting by Jeffrey Slonim.

What happens when Lady Gaga‘s outrageous outfits meet Beyonce‘s Sasha Fierce looks? A truly diva-worthy fashion house! Nicola Formichetti — stylist to Lady Gaga and fashion director of Japanese Men’s Vogue — has been named creative director for Thierry Mugler. The Parisian designer, who was responsible for creating Beyonce’s bootylicious on-tour looks, has tapped the 33-year-old stylist to head both their women’s and menswear ready-to-wear labels. “Thierry Mugler is about the power of glamour and walking straight into the future. He’s been a god for successive generations in the fashion industry,” says Nicola, who will make his runway debut showing the fashion house’s fall/winter 2011/12 collections. “He fused pop and high fashion, told a story in style and combined fantasy with reality. My approach is always very eclectic. I’d like to find new ways for a luxury brand such as Thierry Mugler to excite people.” Nicola has never ceased to amaze us with what he comes up with for Lady Gaga, including at last night’s VMAs — and we can hardly wait to see what he brings the famously daring French house. –Jessie Goldberg

Fashion Flashback: Cher Turns Back Time at the VMAs

Brian Rasic/Rex USA; Mike Blake/Landov

It’s been more than 20 years since Cher first sang about turning back the hands of time, but at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, the 64-year-old singer really did seem to step into a time-warp. “So far I’m the oldest chick with the biggest hair in the littlest costume,” joked the songstress as she hit the stage to present the award for video of the year. Clad in a motorcycle-topped catsuit, that was a throwback to the iconic look she wore for her 1989 “If I Could Turn Back Time” video and subsequent concert appearances, like the one pictured above, taken at London’s Wembley Arena in 1992, Cher quipped: “Back in the day I used to get thrown off MTV for wearing things like that, which seem so tame now. And that was when Lady Gaga was Baby Gaga.” Cher then got the chance to pass the torch to music’s newest provocateur herself, presenting Gaga with the night’s biggest award, the VMA for Best Video for “Bad Romance.” Tell us: What do you think of Cher’s skimpy flashback? –Katherine Kluznik Rentmeester

Beyoncé Walks in Top Secret Tom Ford Runway Show

Jemal Countess/Getty

Much has been made of Tom Ford’s long-anticipated return to womenswear, and it seems the wait was more than worth it! In true Tom Ford fashion, the former Gucci and YSL designer secured none other than Beyoncé and a slew of other iconic faces to parade down his ultra-exclusive N.Y.C. runway on Sunday evening. According to WWD, Ford described the high-wattage models, who also included Julianne Moore, Daphne Guinness and catwalk queen Chanel Iman, as “the world’s most inspirational women.” And one in particular, certainly enjoyed storming the catwalk. “It was so much fun,” Beyoncé told WWD after the show, which Ford personally narrated. “It felt like a performance. It had the energy of a live show. It’s great to see people have fun in fashion.” Although access to the refined affair was so private that only one photographer was present and no photos were released, some lucky style-savvy guests took to their Twitter to provide a glimpse of what is sure to be one the most talked about events of New York Fashion Week. “Tom Ford gorgeousness: silk fringe gown, crisp tuxedos in blk and white, leopard pantsuits, corsets under peekaboo gowns and lace kneeboots” Tweeted Elle creative director and The City star Joe Zee. And while it may be awhile before we get to see the glamorous designs Tom has in store for spring, we’re happy to wait just a little bit longer. –Gillian Koenig

Snooki Gets Rid of Her Hair Pouf: ‘I Want to Look More Mature’

Tammie Arroyo/AFF-USA

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi may be known for her hair pouf, but when she stepped out on the white carpet at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards, she debuted brand new bangs, saying it’s time for her to kiss the signature look goodbye. “It’s definitely a new look, but I think it’s a good look that suits me,” Polizzi told PEOPLE. “I want to look more mature. The pouf—I’ve been wearing it since I was 16, so why not switch it up?” Even though Snooki’s new hair looks great, the Jersey Shore reality starlet, 23, says the adjustment is taking a moment. “Now I have bangs,” she says. “I haven’t had bangs since I was seven, so this is weird. To be honest with you, I went out right after I got this hair done, and no one recognized me.” –Dahvi Shira
