FIRST LOOK: Christina Hendricks Lends Her ‘Mad Men’ Appeal to London Fog

Christina Hendricks’ Mad Men character, Joan Harris, brings sass and seduction to the AMC hit show, and now the sultry red-head is lending her sex appeal to London Fog. Following in the stylish footsteps of Gisele Bundchen and Eva Longoria Parker, Christina will star in the label’s fall 2010 ad campaign. “London Fog is a classic brand, which I love. It also ties into Mad Men, we used London Fog in the show and this was a nice way to tie everything together,” the Emmy-nominated actress says of the outerwear label. “The trench is such an iconic shape for men and women. It works for anyone – it worked in the 1960s and it works now.” And it was Christina’s own timeless glamour and sophistication that landed her the role, according to the label. “Christina has a modern appeal but also harks back to a bygone era,” adds the brand’s chief marketing officer, Dari Marder. Shot by Nino Muñoz, the elegant black-and-white ads feature Hendricks posing seductively in London Fog coats and accessories, and are set to debut in October fashion and lifestyle magazines as well as outdoor and online. Ms. Hendricks is simply the hottest, most beautiful woman since….scratch that. She is simply IT when it comes to beauty. I hope the idiots over at America’s Next Top Model take note. Christina Hendricks is the woman that people will tune in for.

Carly on

She is just gorgeous and oozes class. Tom, you speak the truth.

Anna on

Ms. Hendricks is the epitome of a healthy beautiful woman. Designers take note…you do not have to be a bobble-head with a size 00 figure to be beautiful. REAL women have curves. REAL women have beautiful figures. REAL Women should be celebrated and not made to feel less than worthy because they don’t fit into some designers pre-pubescent male version of ‘fashion’. The average American Woman (not child) is a size 14. Deal with it and step up to the plate.

Ms. Hendricks is simply stunning and does it with class.

Chrissy on

This is what a “real” woman looks like. Way better than Gisele.

I have a London Fog black trench coat that I LOVE. Even though I am petite, it looks like it was tailored to fit me perfectly.
I think Christina Hendricks is absolutely gorgeous! And she is oh so classy.

Christina Hendricks is absolutely stunning, I hope the Giseles and Kate Mosses of the world slowly disappear, this is what todays woman strives to be, I wouldn’t want my daughter starving herself trying to fit into a size 0, maybe if we have more women like this, REAL women in the media our society can start a turn for the better, the cocaine addicted models of the past generation need to move on out, bring it Christina they have NOTHING on you girl!!

AJ on

She is stunning and flawless! Makes me proud of my voluptuous, hourglass figure. She gives me confidence that my size 8 is not fat but sexy! Thank you Mrs. Hendricks!

I do hope that she is able to improve what people consider beauty…fashion will likely still push the bony women…but if people in the ‘real world’ have someone like this with lots of positive notoriety…great for little girls who aren’t rail thin! Gorogeous and real looking…

Tom you are SO right!

She is beautiful but I like to believe she represents beauty at every size, rather than telling me I have to look like her. I am a petite woman who will always be small in stature and in shape. These people who insist there is something wrong with me because I will never be a DD cup are just as bad for a young woman’s psyche as telling them they all need to be skinny. It’s still an image few women can live up to.

J on

She’s tops, and they make a good product besides.

Rachael on

I think Christina Hendricks is absolutely beautiful! She represents the modern woman, someone who is driven in her career but is not afraid to be beautiful and sexy!

I do want to say though, that while I am all for full body enpowerment, I think we need to realize that people like Kate Moss and Gisele are REAL women too! I myself am a beautiful curvy size 6, I have italian boobs and thighs for days and am proud of my body. My best friend Jennie though is naturally a size 00, she is beautiful and slender and eats like a horse. That is just her natural size.

We need to celebrate ALL women – whether you are a size 8, size 2 or a size 6!

candy on

LOL……love the comment from the woman who says that Hendricks is bringing curvy back and making size 14 women feel good about themselves!!!!!!!! Let’s be honest here…….Christina Hendricks is most likely a size 4 or 6! Look at her thin arms, small waist and lean frame! She has BIG BOOBS people! That does not mean she is a size 12 or 14. In Hollywood women are expected to stay slim and in shape to get the roles that they desire. BTW, the camera adds 10 lbs. to a person’s frame – Hendricks is by no means underweight or unhealthy looking but she is most likely very tiny in person! She is blessed with a lovely face, fine figure and healthy body…..yes, and large breasts! But, she is a small size…..make no mistake about that! And Giselle and Kate Moss are small to…..but have different body types – more athletic and lean. Equally as beautiful – let’s not forget women come in all shapes and sizes!

Does it look like they shrunk her waist and hips in the top ad?

Go Christina!!!!!!!!!!

You rock girl!

I was the purser on one of Ms. Bundchen’s flights a few years ago (pre-baby) on which she was wearing jeans & a form-fitting, cut-off t-shirt. When she lifted her arms to reach into the overhead bin, one could count her ribs. Her hips were nearly as narrow as her waist, & both her legs & arms were as skinny as the proverbial string beans. She did have a lovely, somewhat large bust. The male stewards & pilots all commented that although they thought she was gorgeous, she was far too thin for their taste. She wore no makeup, & could have easily passed for 15. I hasten to add that she was very sweet & courteous.

sarah on

To the person who scoffed and said that she is a size 4 or 6…you must not watch Mad Men. She wears Spanx and other smoothing undergarments and she was blessed with thinner arms, but she is at least a size 12. And her chest is MUCH bigger than a double D. She is a beautiful, full-figured woman, and I think she’s beautiful just the way she is.

Chris on

I’m all for Christina Hendricks, but why is everyone harping on thinner woman not being “REAL” women? So if someone is naturally thin, what gives? I think we should embrace all sizes… as long as someone is healthy, I don’t think we should be as dismissive.

Candace Serviss on

A truly beautiful woman who reminds us what a real woman’s figure looks like!

Crimson Diva on

Love it! She’s beautiful and looks great in the ads.

Frederika on

She is soooo gorgeous and not a stick figure! A true women with terrific curves. This is the kind of ad that makes me want to run out and buy their clothes!

Hey “Chris” I have nothing against big or small women. However, I do have a hang up with designers who send anorexic pre-pubescent children down a runway with their ideal of how skinny a woman should be to wear their designs.

That is where the “real” women are being left unserved in fashion. To feel that if you dare to be bigger than a size 12, you’re fat and lazy and should just be ashamed of yourself.

The “plus size” models in the modeling world are sizes 10-12. In what department store or boutique would you find that size in their “plus size” salons? You wouldn’t. Plus size doesn’t start until 16-18 and goes up from there. And have you seen the clothing? With the exception of Lane Bryant, who covers all sizes, it’s horrible. Who wants elastic waistbands?

I’m a size 12-14, have been for years. I’m tall, I have curves and I was never ever meant to be a size 4. And I’m good with that. It’s simply refreshing to see a campaign with a stunning woman who happens to (a) not be a size 00 and (b) have curves. Whether she’s a size 4 or 40, she’s a stunning woman! (BTW, on Mad Men, they pad her costumes out to make her more fuller figured. As they do with many of the actresses on the show. Fact.)

. For custom ones, there are pleacs in NYC that do hairpieces (I haven’t been there personally, so I’m not sure how much they cost). Dov Salon and Bitz N Pieces are two pleacs I know about. I bought one at the mall, of all pleacs, for like $20, and if I had someone style my hair professionally and add on a fancy comb it actually looked good.
