Kristen Bell's Bikini-Ready Secret: Stay Busy!

After celebrating her 30th birthday last month, Kristen Bell is all about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Appearing on dual covers for the September issue of Shape, the stylish actress shares her 30 best stay-fit tips, challenging women to embrace a more balanced approach to fitness. Opting for an active lifestyle over fad diets, she admits: “I’m like a jackrabbit throughout the day and like to keep moving whenever I can.” Instead of depriving herself of caloric sweets, she makes compromises. “More flights of stairs means I can eat more candy!” And when Bell isn’t playing board games with fiancé Dax Shepard, she can be found planting vegetables in her organic garden or getting crafty at home. “I love to do projects around the house,” she explains. “I have a very old sewing machine, and if I spot something I like in a magazine, I want to see if I can make it.” To hear more from Kristen, pick up the September issue of Shape or visit Shape.com for a behind the scenes look at her cover shoot. –Justine Harman

She is 5’1″ tall and does not have “the bone structure of a bird”. That is one of the most bitter comments I have ever read. Be happy with your own body instead of negatively commenting on someone else. Way to go Kristen!

I totally agree. I dont exercise, or follow any diets, but because I’m constantly on the move the entire day, I’m probably burning calories the whole day without the delibrate effort. I’ve maintained a size 6 all my adult life without even trying and I’m 29.

lighten up Brianne. Rachel was just being funny. Her comment made me laugh. I’m sure Rachel admires Kristen Bell as I do. She is just so tiny and it seems to be effortless for her.

Fiona, just wait until you turn 35. haha, your metabolism will slow down and it is all different. I was also a size 6 for most of my life and then all of a sudden, your body changes.

Keeping an active routine throughout your day is not going to keep you fit and trim when you reach age 40, everything slows down. I know this from experience, used to be a size 3 my entire life until I hit 40 then up I go to size 6, and I eat better and excercise more now. So enjoy being thin while you are young, it won’t always be like that, especially if you are happy. We all seem to get heavier when we are happy.
