Kristin Bauer Stays Hungry to Fit in 'True Blood' Wardrobe

Rocking a latex dress is no easy task. Rocking a latex dress on TV, where the camera adds an extra 10 lbs., requires sacrifice. “The other day I realized as long as I’m in this business, I’m going to be hungry,” True Blood‘s Kristin Bauer tells Popeater about her strategy to looking fang-tastic. Since joining the cast of HBO’s hit series last season as the figure-flaunting Pam, Bauer, who once played Jerry’s man-handed date on Seinfield, has stepped up her diet and exercise regimen to accommodate the form-fitting and body-flaunting costumes of Eric Northman’s (Alexander Skarsgard) sexy sidekick. “During that first wardrobe fitting, I knew I would have my midriff showing. I thought, ‘I need to get serious’ and started going to ab classes more regularly.” As part of a show known as much for its chiseled physiques as its skin-piercing fangs, the vegetarian acknowledges to Movieline that her costars are “all working out like crazy and have diets,” which for the ladies includes avoiding carbs onset. “All the women walk by Craft services and keep going. I don’t even know why we walk by, we’re just torturing ourselves.” And while she’s in tiptop form, Bauer says she’s still motivated to sweat a little more: “After any wardrobe fitting, I hit the gym three times more than the week before.” – Christie LaRusso

It’s great that she is being honest about the sacrifices that needs to be done to look good. So many people including myself have been looking for an easy way out. I’ve come to realized that it doesn’t exist.

People, it’s kristIn Bauer. You’re title’s misspelled. Sheesh!

Lex on

Hey fpf, your comment is misspelled.

Ugh… ‘your’. I don’t get paid the big bucks for writing here, though ;(

I had no idea she was Man Hands. Heh.

Samantha_Canada on

Wow, I appreciate her sincerity. It makes me feel sooo much better about myself. They are working just as hard to stay thin as the rest of us.

Lauren on

She can’t give an interview without mentioning Alexander Skarsgard. Seriously. Dig around and read her interviews since she started TB. She always manages to find a way to work him in.

Emily on

I mean, I guess Yay for honesty but is that what it takes to be a successful actress? Being hungry all the time? Wow.

CIC on

Lauren – re-read this article. She didn’t mention him; the author referred to her as his side-kick, that’s all.

fpf- it’s Kristin… not “kristln”. Perhaps you should have made sure your spelling/grammar wasn’t worse than People’s before you opened your big, fat mouth.

Hmmm… interesting to hear!

Love her and the show. She’s such a badass. Love it!!

Awesome, tell kids to starve themselves so they look good on tv. What kind of message is that? It’s almost as bad as the tshirts from Urban Outfitters that say “Eat Less”

fpf on

@M Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with a capital ‘I’ on a keyboard before you choose to open your over-wide extremity. Heh.

Way to go kristen. You know if you just stuck to drinking blood you would not have to work out as much. lol. Anyway, let me know when you want that bowl of ice cream. I will fix you one with almonds, caramel sauce and a dash of shredded coconut. ☻

CIC: I read the Movieline article. Perhaps you should before you post here.

S.E. on

I noticed her weight loss immediately on the show…I think she looked better before (like in the pic above)

I love that she was honest! so many (i’m talkin’ to you megan fox) just blithely say “oh i can eat anything, i love cheeseburgers” UGH that’s so unrealistic lol. Personally, I’ll take a bit of tum & bum rather than starve lol

@Lauren on

Kristin has almost every one of her scenes with Alex, and they are friends. So what if she talks about him. Stephen talks about Anna and their sex scenes in almost every interview.

Kristin is GORGEOUS and I can’t imagine anyone else playing ‘Pam’ on True Blood as well as she does! This Sunday’s episode is supposed to be very suspensful. That scene between Eric & Talbot last Sunday was HOTTTTT!!

Everyone is making such a huge fuss about Kristin saying she’s hungry. Sam Trammel said an Chelsey Lately that he goes hungry all the time and Stephen Moyer has said multiple times that he basically starves himself several days before a nude scene. Sadly, actors are doing that to maintain an image. Why no hoopla when the men admitted to it?

Well, Gina, maybe there’s a hoopla (as you call it) when a woman admits to starving herself because eating disorders are more diffused among women.

Okay so Kristin Bauer is not a sickly ill looking girl. She has some curves and is very healthy looking. She keeps hungry and away from lots of carbs (which are not even that great for you anyways, unless they are whole wheat products. Nobody needs donuts or cake people!) to stay attractive. She basically paints on leather, come on, no one wants to see any rolls in extremely tight leather! And staying thin and working out = healthy. Fat is not healthy. And i think its great she works hard to look good and is honest that shes not perfect, and she has to put down the food and put in the hours at the gym like everyone else.

theresa Ruth Howard on

Yes her honesty is refreshing, truth be told the general public already surmised that all the women in Hollywood aren’t “Naturally” that svelte, we know they sacrifice, but instead of saying that they are frickin’ hungry they purport that they love eating just edamame, drinking only lemon water and working out 20 hours a week. Thank you Kristin.
And one more thing what would be wrong with a bit of real woman thickness around the middle? These are the things we are discussing on mybodymyimage.com check it out!
