The Stars Turn Out For Neil Lane’s Diamond-Encrusted Affair

Gregg DeGuire/PictureGroup

Neil Lane is a girl’s best friend. The jewelry designer’s diamonds have graced countless A-list celebrities and Thursday night was no exception. Stars such as Eva Longoria Parker and Kristin Davis literally lit up the red carpet at Neil Lane’s Debut Bridal Collection With Kay Jeweler’s Launch at Drai’s at The W Hollywood. Eva, “blinged out” in a gorgeous diamond necklace, bracelet and cocktail ring, told PEOPLE: “My favorite Neil Lane piece I have is these diamond hoop earrings that Tony bought me that I absolutely love.” Clad in a black Gustavo Cadile dress and “totally comfortable” platform Sergio Rossi heels, the Desperate Housewives star said of Lane, “He’s timeless. Everything he designs combines old Hollywood glamour with antique feel but at the same time with a modern take and that’s a really nice combination.” Another fan? Kristin Davis, who paired black heart shaped diamond drop earrings and chunky black diamond bracelets from the designer with a simple black Narciso Rodriquez dress. “I’m covered in it tonight!” Davis said. The Sex and The City star praised Lane for affording every woman their red-carpet moment. “I think him teaming up with Kay to make an affordable line that’s so beautiful is perfect.” We couldn’t agree more! –Michelle Ward

Meow! Katy Perry Shares the Feline Inspiration for her Debut Scent

Sara Jaye Weiss/Startraks

Katy Perry might seem fearless when she hits the stage, but when it came time to debut her newest project, signature scent Purr, the star owned up to a little stage fright. “I’m nervous,” Perry admitted at a launch event in N.Y.C. Thursday night before unveiling a cat-shaped fragrance bottle. “I wanted this to represent my personality–which is a fine line between what is cute and chic. I am somewhere in the middle,” she said. Katy’s love of cats, especially her own cat Kitty Purry, is reflected in the bottle, which features sparkling eyes and a charm around its neck. “I think it definitely represents who I am. And I wanted women to want to keep the bottle after they were done with the fragrance,” said Perry, who admitted that she hopes to add more fragrances to the collection in the future. “I didn’t want to get into perfume just because it was the thing to do. But like my music, I thought there was still room in the marketplace for my twist,” she said. “I think this is a good first step into the beauty world.” And while images of the scent are still being tightly guarded, you’ll be able to get a first-hand look when the fragrance launches in November exclusively at Nordstrom, with prices starting at $25 for a .5-oz bottle. –Katie Dickens

SNEAK PEEK: Natalie Portman Reveals Her Dark Side In ‘Black Swan’

Courtesy Fox Searchlight

Until now, Natalie Portman has been one of Hollywood’s red-carpet sweethearts, but for her new role in the movie Black Swan, the Oscar-nominated actress is defecting to the dark side. Playing a prima ballerina on the verge of a breakdown, Natalie trades the modern elegance we’re used to for stark white skin, vampy lipstick and amber eyes painted in a Jurassic Park-esque mask. “The character was very interesting to play, always challenging and surprising,” Natalie tells USA Today of her role in the film, which was directed by The Wrestler‘s Darren Aronofsky. And while she has shared this peek at her character, fans still have to wait until late fall to see Natalie pas de bourrée across the big screen, when Black Swan hits theaters. –Jessie Goldberg
