Leighton Meester on Her Willingness to Go Bald for a Role (and Other Beauty Secrets)

INF

As it turns out, Blair Waldorf and Leighton Meester probably wouldn’t be BFFs in real life. While the Gossip Girl actress’s character is known for her designer wardrobe and flawless beauty, in real life, Meester couldn’t care less about keeping up with the trends or taming her tresses. “I’m not super OCD when it comes to every little flyaway,” Meester told PEOPLE. “I like being a little undone.” And while the 24-year-old star recently became global spokeswoman for hair care brand Herbal Essences, she wouldn’t hesitate to chop off her signature long locks if for the right role. “I know it’s just hair and I can change it however I want. I haven’t shaved my head or anything like that. But, you know if I needed to! It’s part of my job to change my hair.” For Meester, embracing change is part of her routine, admitting to “playing a part” when she’s on a red carpet. And she turns to her dream team, including makeup artist Chris Colbeck and hairstylist Charles Baker Strahan, to help create her image. “It’s all about individuality and making a big statement. I leave it to the pros, they’re artists. I’ll be like, ‘just do your thing.’” For more on Meester’s style, hair hang ups and beauty saves and splurges, check out this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands now. –Jackie Fields

Kate, Lake and More Join Burberry for a Beauty Tea Party

Courtesy Burberry

Chief creative officer of Burberry Christopher Bailey brought a star-studded lineup of guest together to celebrate the brand’s new Beauty collection in a quintessential Britain-meets-Hollywood way–a tea party in a private Beverly Hills garden. The glamorous lineup of Burberry-clad guests included Kate Bosworth, Lake Bell, Serena Williams, Rachel Zoe and Glee sweetheart Jayma Mays. And the new line is certainly something to raise a teacup to–the Beauty products were inspired by the classic trench coat and are as sleek as what comes down the Burberry catwalk, with the brand’s legendary plaid print splashed across the metallic packaging. The ad campaign even draws from the brand’s British roots, with Bailey choosing “three British beauties, who we’ve worked with before and who are part of the Burberry family–Rosie [Huntington-Whiteley] has this effortless sexiness to her, Nina [Porter] has an edge and attitude and Lily [Donaldson] is a classic British beauty.” Bailey tells PEOPLE, “When you put them all together, you have a pure Burberry expression.” While the tea party may be over, you can still get a piece of Burberry Beauty at exclusive retailers or burberry.com. –Jessie Goldberg

RUMOR PATROL: Lady Gaga NOT Launching Her Own Perfume

Flynet

With the internet abuzz with speculation that Lady Gaga would be Coty’s next star perfumer, we couldn’t help but imagine what the outrageous singer would put out on shelves (just think of the bottle design alone!). But sadly it seems that we won’t be finding out. “It’s a totally false rumor,” Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing for the firm’s Coty Beauty division, tells WWD. “I know nothing of this project.” We guess we’ll try and keep a “Poker Face” to hide our sadness over this rumor not being true and “Just Dance” to beat the blues. EXCLUSIVE: The Scoop on Carrie Underwood’s Wedding Makeup

When Carrie Underwood walked down the aisle on July 10 with her Canadian hockey player beau Mike Fisher, she looked the part of a fairy princess, from her Monique Lhuillier gown and sparkling tiara, to the final piece of the puzzle–her perfect makeup. “It was the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever been to–and I’ve been to a lot of weddings,” the country star’s makeup artist (and bridesmaid!) Melissa Schleicher tells PEOPLE. “Everywhere you looked there was sparkle.” To balance out the shimmer, Schleicher went with a neutral palette, explaining, “Usually on award shows, we really vamp it up, and Carrie looks beautiful but [we] toned down a little bit. We just took it down a notch.” Getting the look flawless despite the sweltering Georgia weather began with creating a base using the Temptu AIRbrush Makeup System. “It was so hot there that [many] foundation[s] would melt off, and airbrush is really great for heat,” she explains. To define Carrie’s eyes, Schleicher used colors from Too Faced’s Eye Kit. “It’s amazing. It has all the colors you need. And I wet it to get that shimmery look and to get the golds to pop out and it makes it stay put.” She then made Carrie into the proverbial blushing bride with one of the star’s favorite products, M.A.C blush in Pink Swoon, “It’s just a beautiful bride blush–it gives that beautiful pinky color.” To get Carrie’s lips ready for her first legally-married kiss, Melissa went with Barely Legal Glamour Gloss by Too Faced over M.A.C lipstick in soft pink Hue. Tell us: What do you think of Carrie’s bridal look? What is your favorite wedding makeup style?
