The Scoop on Forever 21′s Debut Designer Collaboration with Brian Lichtenberg

Courtesy Forever 21

When we learned that Forever 21 was teaming with Brian Lichtenberg on its first-ever designer collaboration, visions of affordable, sequined dresses and spangly bodysuits filled our head. But with just a few weeks left before the much-anticipated collection hits Forever 21 stores on August 13, the designer is clearing up a few misconceptions. “There are are only so many places that a women can wear a glitter dress; I want to open up my brand,” he tells WWD of the budget-friendly collection of T-shirts and tanks that he has designed for the mass retailer. “[This line] is going to be for the customer that is younger and has seen my work on celebrities and musicians, but doesn’t have the money to plunk down for my main line.” And just how affordable is he talking? Styles will retail for about $15 for both men and women. And Lichtenberg has transformed cotton basics into jaw-dropping statement pieces. Inspired by Lady Gaga‘s “Telephone”, Lichtenberg has created a tank crisscrossed with yellow caution tape that has “Lichtenberg” and “No21″ scrolled across to it. Other designs include “Lichtenberg” spilling out of a nail polish bottle and his initials “BL” spelled out in lipsticks. We can’t wait to see more of Lichtenberg’s styles. Tell us: Are you excited for Forever 21 and Brian Lichtenberg’s collaboration? Andrea DeSimone

What do Disney star Demi Lovato,17, and Kim Kardashian have in common? Curves—and confidence. “I just love the way that she dresses,” Lovato told PEOPLE at the kickoff concert for General Growth Properties’s “Shop Till You Rock”, a music-inspired mall tour and fashion event at the Glendale Galleria on Saturday. “She wears clothes that fit her body…I’ve been embracing my body as I’ve been getting older, I’m starting to have curves and I’m embracing it and kind of looking to her style to help me out with that.” Even though summer is still in swing, Lovato is already excited about fall style options. “I’m really excited about just fall in general–like the scarves, the handbags, the coats and awesome jeans, and boots, and tights,” says Lovato, who stars in Disney’s upcoming movie Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam and is touring with Jonas Brothers later this summer. No matter the season, Lovato keeps her skin fresh with just one simple rule: “I wash my makeup off every night [with] Clean and Clear,” Lovato, the new spokesperson for the line, says. “It’s the only face wash products I’ve been able to use that actually make a difference. It’s really great.” For more information, check out shoptilyourock.com. –Katherine Perry

Vanessa Hudgens and Hayden Panettiere Hit the Beach — For Charity!

Albert Michael/Startraks

When Vanessa Hudgens and Hayden Panettiere hit the beach yesterday in L.A., it wasn’t just to soak up the rays. The two beautiful actresses (and Neutrogena brand ambassadors ) joined forces to announce the new Neutrogena Wave for Change campaign, a charitable initiative that lets teens help the company decide how to distribute up to $200,000 from sales of the Wave Sonic Power-Cleaner and Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit product sold for disaster relief, education and environmental causes through GlobalGiving. Through August 23, visitors to the Neutrogena Facebook page can take a quiz to see which cause they’d like to support, which will help determine where funding eventually goes. “Often people want to participate, but they don’t know how so the fact Neutrogena is opening the door and kids are getting to be a part of something and help the world is an amazing thing to be a part of,” says Panettiere. Hudgens seconds the feeling, telling PEOPLE that “It’s so cool that Neutrogena is letting the fans go to Neutrogena’s Facebook page to take a quiz to determine how the money raised for charity is being distributed. By taking a few minutes to join in, everyone can make a big difference in the world.” Go to Facebook.com/Neutrogena to take the quiz today!

All the Details of Carrie Underwood’s Two Custom Monique Lhuillier Wedding Gowns

No fairy tale is complete without a dress fit for a princess! And in the case of Carrie Underwood‘s ultimate story book wedding, to Canadian hockey player Mike Fisher, make that two dresses both custom-created by designer Monique Lhuillier. “[Carrie] wanted something grand and magical. She wears evening gowns all the time but this had to be really special,” Lhuillier tells PEOPLE. For Carrie’s trip down the aisle, Lhuillier designed a one-of-a-kind, drop waist, custom ballgown–complete with a corseted bodice made of Chantilly lace and covered in silk flowers and crystals. The gown–which took over 400 hours to create!–was cinched with a blush pink sash and topped with a chapel-length circular veil encrusted with clear and pink crystals. “For the party, she said ‘I want to dance and have fun’. I saw she had gorgeous legs so I thought why not show them off?” says Lhuillier, who put the country superstar in a strapless, corseted, jeweled-bodice cocktail dress with delicately frayed organza skirt. And the gorgeous gowns didn’t stop with Carrie, with Lhuillier creating four different silk chiffon goddess gowns for Carrie’s eight bridemaids. And to top off their looks, Carrie gifted her bridesmaids an assortment of jewelry from Swarovski, including a pendant cross necklace and crystal earrings and bracelets. Combined with perfect hair and makeup, Lhuillier says, “I thought she looked like one of the most gorgeous brides I ever worked with–she has this spark in her eyes and a confidence, she owned that look.” –Andrea DeSimone

Marisa Tomei’s Stay Fit Secret: ‘Feel Naughty, Drink Wine and Have Sex!’

Courtesy Shape

As hard as it is to believe that her Oscar-winning turn in My Cousin Vinny was 18 years ago, Marisa Tomei has moved on to playing sexy moms in films like Cyrus. But her fit and youthful appearance belies her being a 45-year-old. So how does the SHAPE cover girl stay bikini-ready? In addition to being raised on a Mediterranean diet heavy on protein, Tomei attributes her rock hard Wrestler body to belly dancing, which exercises both her mind and body. “There’s such a sense of freedom,” she says in the August issue. Although she jump starts her day with hot lemon water and a boiled egg, Marisa says, “I don’t want you to think I’m only about being all healthy-crunchy.” The star promises that she lives a life full of laughter and fun, which balances out the healthier parts of her lifestyle. “It’s about feeling pleasure too. I love to play, play, play! To go out dancing and be boisterous. It’s fun to be a night owl, or feel naughty, drink wine, and have sex! Now that’s the best kind of play there is!” To check out more of Marisa’s interview, pick up the August issue of SHAPE starting July 19 or check shape.com-Jessie Goldberg
