EXCLUSIVE: Kendall Jenner Responds to Critics of Her Bikini Pics

Her recent Malibu photo shoot had her proud older sisters blogging her praise — and got critics buzzing, as well. Now, 14-year-old Kendall Jenner tells PEOPLE how the beach shoot came to be — and why she’s excited to be a model. “I am excited to be working as a model, doing what I love to do.” The Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star says her family is on board with her decision to model. “My entire family was very supportive, though my dad [Bruce Jenner] was a bit concerned at first, he knows that I am responsible enough that I wouldn’t do anything I wasn’t ready to do, or didn’t want to do.” Kendall may be inspired by supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Gisele, but she’s not looking to grow up too fast either. “Going into this shoot, it was never my intention to be provocative or too racy. It was a beach shoot, and I was wearing beachwear. I am happy with my age, and am not trying to rush into anything too soon. I look forward to all the milestones my teens have to offer–Sweet 16, turning 18, and so on.” Luc Brinker, Kendall’s agent from famed modeling agency Wilhelmina affirms that the budding catwalker is on the right path, telling PEOPLE, “Kendall exudes such a high level of confidence and know how for her age. I’m sure that it comes from having such a great family that gives her endless support and is constantly encouraging her to shine. This is very tasteful, she has a sheer top over the bikini and she is not doing anything provocative. I think she is the prettiest Kardashian by far

We have a pool and lots of summer company!
ALL THE GIRLS WEAR BIKINIS! Even the ones that really shouldn’t wear one wears them! I have not seen a single girl in a one piece suit!

She looks like a skinny Kloe. Her mom is supportive because she’s always been so money hungry that she’ll sell her girls to the devil himself for a buck. She is a beautiful girl, but shameful that she’s been exploited to the biz so soon.

A lot of people on here keep saying that the picture is appropriate & looks fine but obviously u all haven’t seen ALL the photos from this shoot b/c they are way to sexy & revealing for a 14 year old.

She looks beautiful! Most models start at a very young age, so for her to be modeling at 14 is normal. The only reason it is getting public opinion is because her family is famous. To be completely honest, people are naive if they think that at 14 girls are still “so young” and “so innocent.” Girls grow up a lot faster and younger then they used to. More power to her for coming into her own that early in life and embracing what God gave her.

If the average modeling career is over at 21, when exactly do people expect these kids to start working? Gisele Bundchen started at 15. They have to. Society demands that they be thin and perky and pretty and look fresh and perfect. At their age, they do. As long as there was a parent present at the shoot and she wasn’t being taken advantage of, I don’t see the issue. She has grown up watching her sisters do this and because of her family she has an opportunity. Life is about taking those opportunities.
