EXCLUSIVE: Kendall Jenner Responds to Critics of Her Bikini Pics

Her recent Malibu photo shoot had her proud older sisters blogging her praise — and got critics buzzing, as well. Now, 14-year-old Kendall Jenner tells PEOPLE how the beach shoot came to be — and why she’s excited to be a model. “I am excited to be working as a model, doing what I love to do.” The Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star says her family is on board with her decision to model. “My entire family was very supportive, though my dad [Bruce Jenner] was a bit concerned at first, he knows that I am responsible enough that I wouldn’t do anything I wasn’t ready to do, or didn’t want to do.” Kendall may be inspired by supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Gisele, but she’s not looking to grow up too fast either. “Going into this shoot, it was never my intention to be provocative or too racy. It was a beach shoot, and I was wearing beachwear. I am happy with my age, and am not trying to rush into anything too soon. I look forward to all the milestones my teens have to offer–Sweet 16, turning 18, and so on.” Luc Brinker, Kendall’s agent from famed modeling agency Wilhelmina affirms that the budding catwalker is on the right path, telling PEOPLE, “Kendall exudes such a high level of confidence and know how for her age. I’m sure that it comes from having such a great family that gives her endless support and is constantly encouraging her to shine. She does look good. And, true, she’s not posing provacatively or dressed offensively. And she certainly sounds very intelligent, if she did, in fact, make these comments. I guess it’s just that she looks like a young woman and 14 is a far cry from. Why couldn’t they wait until she was 18 to start her modeling career. I think there starts the problem when the parents allow, even encourage young children to do WHATEVER MAKES THEM HAPPY. With freedom comes responsibility. And children simply are not that responsible. That’s why the parents are there to teach and protect. I wish her good luck and safety.

She is BEAUTIFUL and deserves to be a model. Who cares how old she is? She is wearig a bathing and a shirt…more than you see on most at the beach. The people that critisize are the ones that could never fill her shoes. Congrats on the beautiful pictures. Your family is great and you all deserve the fame you get!!!

I think shes pretty covered up as compared to pics 14 year old take at home. She is beautiful. There is nothing provocative about this photo.

Aren’t most models pretty young when they start out? And what 14 yr old doesn’t wear a bikini? It’s not a big deal, relax people….the bigger issue is why are the Kardashians EVERYWHERE!!??

Why are people kidding themselves. Her mother should be locked up for continuing to sell her kids to the highest bidder. She is on her way to being over exposed. She is not a role model for girls. Those pictures are too sexy and to provacative for her age. Slow down and get rid of the Kardsh_t clan

I’m sorry, but she’s 14?? I’m not saying all the 14-year-olds of the world should be wearing turtlenecks and long pants, but this is ridiculous! She’s way too young to be wearing that! I’m 27 and don’t even wear that little!!

People are overreacting. She is more covered up than most teens. The reason why people feel the photos are provocative is because she is beautiful. If she was plain no one would care.

She should not have to defend herself. She is amazingly beautiful! The pictures are fantastic!
The only one I feel sorry for is Bruce! LOL
