EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Jessica Biel Takes You Behind the Scenes of Her Latest Revlon Shoot

07/26/2010 at 06:00 PM ET

She might be more accustomed to the red carpet’s high-drama glitz, but for her latest Revlon commercial, Jessica Biel is going back to nature–and she’s taking us behind-the-scenes of her picturesque shoot. The overall concept for the Revlon ColorStay Just Bitten Lipstain and Balm ad, she says, was inspired by “this idea of this girl just lounging in the beautiful field, and in this meadow, and the flowers are growing and the wind’s blowing and it’s just a very real environment. And then this kind of mysterious person arrives and breaks her out of her little private moment and they have this kind of playful little scene.” Instead of playing up the jet-set lifestyle fans often associate with the Revlon Global Brand Ambassador, “I think what [we] are trying to create is almost like a watercolor,” she explains, “which is a little bit sleepy and sort of magical–that is what I really respond to.” The $9 two-in-one lip-stain and balm is available now on ulta.com. Tell us: What’s your take on Jessica’s behind-the-scenes shoot? –Katherine Kluznik Rentmeester

How is she still relevant? She is hanging onto JT’s worn out britches.

Well DUHH, she is selling makeup, so of course the company is pushing the image that “You will look beautiful and glamorous with our product, and only our product!” I hope women remember that there is integrity and beauty about a face with very little or no makeup, that guys highly prefer the natural look, and that you do not need the “hottest new product” to feel beautiful and good about yourself.

Lilly: Thank you so much for the comments you made about JB and the Revlon company! I, myself, used to work at a factory that made all kinds of makeup, especially Revlon. Yes, I was overworked (10-12 hrs. sometimes) and underpaid. I got laid-off after 27 yrs. in that company due to the economy. Ladies, what Lilly said was absolutely true about teens and makeup. You don’t need this makeup to make you feel beautiful and powerful. Teens and women work so hard to make themselves look so good, but it’s what inside that really counts. Also, be careful to what you put on your face. I know quite a bit of what’s in cosmetics because I worked in a research and development lab that experimented. They’re hurting you more than helping you. Research the ingredients before you buy. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

Susan:
Actually I do think they are all selling out. Just because one does it does not mean it is ok. Is that your philosophy? All I am saying is to look at how that lipstick is made from manufacturing the plastic, to creating the color, and many more steps. If I was going to promote something I would want to make sure that no person is suffering or working under less-than-fair conditions in production. Let’s talk real world and the real evil of marketing.
