Kristen Stewart Gets Glam in ‘Dolce Vita’ Worthy LBDs in Italy

Elisabetta A. Villa/WireImage; INF

Kristen Stewart is known as much for her punky and grungy off-screen style as she is for keeping fans guessing on the status of her relationship with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson. But one thing that is for sure: Stewart is leaving her tough-girl style behind while promoting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in Italy, turning up today in a parade of sweetly sexy little black dresses. First, the star hit a photocall for the film alongside hunky on-screen love interest Taylor Lautner in a tweed and organza J. Mendel dress paired with black peeptoe pumps. And then, she hit the film’s Roman premiere in an elaborate black tulle Marchesa minidress, which she wore with a loose updo and satin Roger Vivier ankle-strap heels. It’s only just the beginning of Stewart and her Eclipse crew promoting the sure-to-be smash hit movie, so we can barely wait to see if her glam streak continues. Tell us: What do you think of Kristen’s new glam look? –Melissa Liebling-Goldberg

The Scoop on Katy Perry’s Bedazzled Diesel ‘Daisy Dukes’

Courtesy Diesel

In her hit single “California Gurls,”  Katy Perry declares “daisy dukes with a bikini on top” the signature uniform of the song’s namesake vixens. And given the star’s own daring fashion sense,  it’s no surprise that the short-shorts she dons with her cupcake-inspired bikini top in the just-debuted music video aren’t just any old cut-offs, but a custom-embellished pair courtesy of Italian denim house Diesel. The star explains to MTV.com, “Diesel made me those shorts, which is really cool. They bedazzled the whole daisy dukes.” With help from Perry’s stylist Johnny Wujek, Diesel encrusted their indigo-blue-washed Mintha 8B3 style with 7,000 blue and gray Swarovski crystals. Perry–no stranger to bejeweled accessories–was so thrilled with the blinged-out results, she posted a Twitpic of the denim shorts-shorts, Tweeting, “don’t be jelly about the custom Diesel daisy dukes!” And best news of all: You don’t have to be! If you’re handy with a glue-gun, you can score your own pair of (unembellished) Minthas ($160) at diesel.com and do the bedazzling yourself. –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley

Jewel: How Her Imperfections Got Her Ahead in Hollywood

Courtesy Shape

When it comes to her looks, Jewel has heard it all–from being labeled “the chubby Renée Zellweger” to being criticized for her crooked teeth. Happily, the singer has learned to embrace her imperfections–which actually helped land her 1999 role in the Civil War drama Ride With the Devil. “I asked [the director], ‘Why me? You could’ve had anyone you wanted. And he said, ‘You have period teeth,’” recalls the country star in the July issue of Shape. “So I got the job because I was the only actress in Hollywood who hadn’t gotten her teeth fixed!” But none of the country girl‘s apparent ‘flaws’ are evident on the magazine’s cover, where she looks as fit as ever in a striped bikini. And it seems the 36-year-old — who cops to a weakness for “a vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting” — owes her fabulous figure to losing her old “all-or-nothing mentality” about diet. “I had seen so many performers develop eating disorders or try to control their weight with drugs,” she tells Shape. “I had to remind myself that standards of beauty are very fickle. One minute J. Lo‘s body is considered beautiful, and the next, everyone wants to look like Kate Moss. I’m all for people wanting to feel more confident, but altering your body to fit a current trend is serious stuff.” For more on Jewel, pick up the July issue of Shape or visit shape.com.–Alison Schwartz
