M.I.A.’s Wedding Style: ‘I’ve Always Wanted to Get Married in a White Suit’

Courtesy GQ

We wouldn’t expect a traditional wedding gown from “Born Free” rapper M.I.A, simply based on her history of envelope-pushing style. But the 34-year-old bride-to-be doesn’t see herself wearing a dress at all when she finally heads down the aisle with fiance Benjamin Bronfman. “I’ve always wanted to get married in a white suit,” says the songstress (nee Mathangi Arulpragasam) in the July issue of GQ. And where did the London-born Sri Lankan star get her wedding fashion inspiration? “I used to work at a Kodak lab in England, cutting photos after they’d come out of the wash,” recalls the mom of 16-month-old Ikhyd.  “And in one I saw this couple getting married on a beach in white suits, and their kid was there.” For more on M.I.A., pick up the July issue of GQ or visit gq.com. –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley

Katie Holmes Dishes on Her ‘Classics With a Twist’ Clothing Line

Carter Smith

It’s not just Katie Holmes‘s jeans that get fashionistas talking. The star has been slowly unveiling designs from her two-year-old Holmes & Yang line, co-designed by her stylist and friend Jeanne Yang, by wearing them to great acclaim on the red carpet. The two first had the idea for the label while going through Katie’s own closet four years ago as they both agreed that women, like men, needed wardrobe staple-based uniforms for everyday wear. “We want to create pieces a woman can wear over and over, and people won’t necessarily say, ‘Oh, you wore that last week,’” Holmes says. The two have since based their collection on what Yang–whose clients include Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Eva Mendes–calls “classics with a twist,” which includes basics like blouses, trousers, jumpsuits, skirts, and cocktail dresses that retail on the much higher end ($945 for a blouse, for example). And lest one of Hollywood’s favorite rising fashion stars, Katie’s 4-year-old daughter Suri, be left out, Holmes & Yang is turning out a few matching styles for the pint-size set. “They love matching Mom,” Holmes says of her daughter and other sartorially minded girls. “And it’s a limited time during which they really want to.” To hear more from Katie and Jeanne, check out ELLE.com or pick up their current issue, on newsstands now. –Melissa Liebling-Goldberg

In addition to a summer filled with shooting, the British actor is also tackling an entirely different type of role–as the face of Bulgari Man, WWD.com announced today. The men’s scent won’t hit stores until September, but Owen has already heated up Milan promoting the new fragrance and he’s sharing behind-the-scenes shots from the campaign exclusively with PEOPLE. The A-lister is no stranger to the beauty world, having previously fronted campaigns for Lancôme Men–but this new role with the luxury brand has us intrigued, and we’re excited to watch where he takes it. ‘Jersey Shore’ Star’s New ‘Situation’: ‘Couture’ Clothing Designer

Krista Kennell/Sipa

Mike “The Couturier” Sorrentino? Jersey Shore‘s “The Situation” is adding another activity to his G-T-L routine: clothing design. Following in the footsteps of castmate and budding fashion designer J.Woww, the 27-year-old reality star is collaborating on a “couture line of high-quality wearable art” for streetwear label Dilligaf by Bohica Bill. Debuting next month at dilligafusa.com–no doubt, right around the show’s season 2 premiere on July 29–the T-shirts, sweatshirts and accessories will incorporate the Situation’s “own fresh artwork,” according to a release. Of the collaboration between the muscled star and the Ed Hardy-esque streetwear line, Dilligaf by Bohica Bill’s president Jodi Massry explained, “Mike ‘The Situation’ embodies our irreverent approach to life. He lives the ‘let’s not take things so seriously’ mentality every day. Dilligaf’s followers and the Sitch are kindred spirits…. His style is unparalleled, his creativity unending! We are thrilled to have formed this partnership.” While details on the individual designs are scarce, we have a feeling that all the pieces will work well with the Situation’s own signature assets: rippled abs and a deep tan. Ray Tamarra/Sipa

Remember back in 2008 when Katie Holmes started rocking rolled-up, baggy jeans in a look that even Tim Gunn didn’t get at the time? Well, her jeans have launched countless imitators and millions of women who wouldn’t give up their boyfriend jeans for any other style. Except, the Hollywood trendsetter has moved on with a new look — so will we all follow her lead again this time?
