Joss Stone Trades Her Flip-Flops For Nine West Heels

Courtesy Nine West

At a slim five feet ten inches, British soul singer Joss Stone could easily pass for a model, but her laid-back attitude and easy approach to style reveal her to be anything but. “Whether or not something is in or out of fashion, I don’t care,” the leggy songstress said at an event in N.Y.C. last night, where she unveiled her Nine West Fall 2010 Vintage America shoe collection, set to launch exclusively in August at Nine West stores worldwide. While Joss cited Gwen Stefani as an occasional source of style inspiration, her fashion mantra is simple: “Wear whatever feels good to you at the time.” And for Joss–who teamed with Nine West to bring her bohemian-chic sensibility to its limited-edition shoe line, even incorporating her own tattoos into designs–this usually includes anything but high-heels. “I love heels, but I usually wear flip-flops because I’m kind of tall. You can’t look sexy if you look like you are going to fall over,” quipped Stone, who made exceptions for the height-boosting lace-up booties and heeled over-the-knee boots she conceived along with Nine West Creative Director Fred Allard. You can get a jump-start on nabbing Joss’s collection, priced from $70-$120, by pre-ordering your favorite styles beginning in late-July at ninewest.com/vintageamerica. –Gillian Koenig

Cameron Diaz’s Fountain of Youth Secret: ‘Lots of Sex’

Courtesy British Vogue

Ask most people about their tricks for staying youthful, and their tips, more often than not, sound less than exciting: A miracle cream here, an hour on the StairMaster there. The Cameron Diaz plan, on the other hand, sounds like anything but a chore. ”The fountain of youth, let’s see. I guess it’s exercise, healthy diet, lots of water, lots of laughter, lots of sex,” reveals the cover girl in the July issue of British Vogue. “Yes, sex, we need that as human beings. It’s healthy, it’s natural, it’s what we’re here to do.” Though photographed regularly in leg-baring short-shorts, minidresses and bikinis, the 37-year-old actress, who has been romantically linked to Alex Rodriguez and Justin Timberlake, among other notable hunks, is modest about her stunning California surfer girl looks. “I might as well enjoy it while I’ve still got something,” says Diaz, a veritable poster child of aging well. “You’ve got to be realistic,” she says. “I mean, I don’t want to look 25 again.” For more on Cameron, pick up the July issue of Vogue UK or visit vogue.co.uk. –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley

Jennifer, Jessica and Renée: Lightening Up for Summer

cr: Sven Hoogerhuis/PictureGroup; Michael Loccisano/Getty; Marion Curtis/StarTraks

Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson and Renée Zellweger seem to be adhering to the same beauty philosophy lately: the blonder the better. The stylish stars have all taken their hair color a few shades lighter, donning new sun-kissed looks just in time for the warmer months. “The trend for color this summer is lighter and blonder,” says celebrity colorist Rita Hazan, whose New York salon counts Jennifer, Jessica and Renée among its well-known clientele. Lopez, who turned heads as much for her sizzling Cavalli dresses as her sexy honey-colored hair at the World Music Awards last month, recently got a subtle boost to her trademark highlights, which she showed off at a charity event in the South of France on May 20. “She is a little blonder than she has been,” says Hazan. “Her hair was darker in the winter. I lightened it up.” As for Jessica’s golden locks? “I gave her pale blonde highlights and made her lighter and brighter,” says Hazan of Simpson, who shone in a bright yellow Carolina Herrera dress at the White House Correspondents’ dinner last month. But Zellweger, who also showed off new a new, shorter pixie cut at the Tribeca Film Festival this spring, went the blondest of all. “I usually keep her hair a golden blonde,” says Hazan. “But I went a lot lighter than she has been. She is ready for summer.” —Gillian Koenig; reporting by K.C. Baker

Is Ke$ha Channeling Lady Gaga’s Style?

Jon Furniss/WireImage; Yuriko Nakao/Reuters/Landov

Ke$ha seems to be following in the style footsteps of Lady Gaga–at least when it comes to outlandish headpieces. The singer donned an enormous feathered crown upon her arrival at the MTV World Stage Music Awards awards in Tokyo this weekend, garnering plenty of Gaga-like attention. The dark oversized hat, which she paired with a black leather jacket and exposed bra, was strangely reminiscent of one that Gaga rocked earlier this year (pictured here) at Mac Cosmetics’ Viva Glam launch. Though Ke$ha has started to solidify her own sense of statement-making style, this wouldn’t be the first time the starlet has pulled a Gaga: Remember the leopard-print bodysuit and spiked heeled boots she rocked at the Erin Wasson + RVCA fashion show during Fall 2010 Fashion Week in New York? While we like both the singers’ looks, we can’t help but wonder if Ke$ha is taking her love for Gaga one step too far. Tell us: Who wears their over-the-top headpiece better, Lady Gaga or Ke$ha?David Yi

Zoe Saldana Gets Top Honors from MaxMara at Star-Studded Dinner

Courtesy MaxMara

With her starring role in Avatar and impeccable sense of style both on and off the red carpet, Zoe Saldana has been turning quite a few fashionable heads lately. So it comes as little surprise that MaxMara gathered some of Hollywood’s chicest stars last night to honor the actress–the winner of Women In Film’s 2010 MaxMara Face of the Future Award–at an exclusive dinner hosted by Vanity Fair. Lake Bell, donning a black MaxMara capsleeve dress, Bryce Dallas Howard and Selma Blair were among the fashionable bunch who turned up at Sunset Towers Terrace Room to celebrate with Saldana, who stole the show in a MaxMara grey lace tank and ruffled skirt. And since no stylish star is complete without her arm candy, the Avatar actress also made time for boyfriend Keith Britton, who seemed happy to let Saldana enjoy the spotlight. Tell us: What did you think of Zoe Saldana’s MaxMara outfit?—Michelle Ward

Claire Danes Puts Her Best Face Forward, With and Without Makeup

INF

For a red-carpet regular who counts Zac Posen and Narciso Rodriguez as her favorite designers, Claire Danes is actually pretty low-key. “I don’t typically wear makeup during the day,” the actress told PEOPLE. “I’m so accustomed to wearing makeup in my work—it’s probably the reason why I am less inclined to wear makeup in life.” The actress, whose role as the new face of the eyelash-growing product Latisse was recently announced, admitted to PEOPLE, “I’m pretty low-maintenance, which is another reason why Latisse is so great, I can afford to be lazier—it does all the work for me.” In fact, with her new eyebrow-grazing lashes, the 31-year-old, whose basic beauty routine is now pared down to a light foundation, lip balm and a little shimmer, reveals that when it comes to prepping for a big event, she’d be lost without her glam squad. ”I’ve worked with such skillful makeup artists and hairdressers that, ironically, I’m that much more ignorant about how to apply makeup myself,” said the actress, who’s been filming ads with fellow Latisse spokesperson Brooke Shields–whom she calls her “lashmate.” “We’re doing these shots where our faces were very close and we’re literally giving eachother butterfly kisses,” says Danes, who jokes that she reserves the sign of affection for a very select few. “Only Brooke Shields…and my husband [Hugh Dancy].” For more from Claire, check out this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands now. —Marissa Patlingrao Cooley; reporting by Jackie Fields
