Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Rock New Neon Tresses

Splash News Online

Looks like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen found a way to brighten up an otherwise dull and rainy N.Y.C. day–painting their hair! The girls were spotted hiding newly-colored pink and yellow tresses under an umbrella Wednesday, while out and about in the Big Apple. Donning big black shades, Ashley sported bold yellow locks while sis Mary-Kate opted for bright pink strands — adding some extra pop to her red scarf and bright blue ring. While the two fashion plates are ever the trendsetters, we’re used to the style-savvy twins letting their clothes, not their hair, do most of the talking. While the twins have flip-flopped between shades of blonde and brunette to distinguish themselves, they haven’t previously gone as bold with their color as stars like Rihanna and Kelly Osbourne have recently. While it turns out that the twins are coming from a shoot for Vogue, we wouldn’t be surprised if these trendsetters opt for this to be their new summer style statement. Tell us: Do you think Mary Kate and Ashley can pull off these new bright, neon hair colors? Gillian Koenig

Jessica Biel’s Fashionable Day of Oscar de la Renta

It’s no secret that Jessica Biel has completely transformed herself from laid-back tomboy to high-fashion glamazon, but the actress proved her style cred on Tuesday in N.Y.C., pulling off three different outfits with one thing in common: Oscar de la Renta. Kicking off a day of press to promote her new film, The A-Team, an Oscar-clad Jessica showed up for an interview on the Today show wearing an ivory crepe-de-chine blouse, boucle tweed jacket and pleated cropped palazzo pants–all from the celebrated designer. Later that afternoon, looking every bit the uptown girl, she paired the same Oscar de la Renta pants with the designer’s powder-blue ruffled blouse and navy cardigan. And before calling it a night, the actress leaned on Oscar once more, stepping out at a launch party for stylist Mark Townsend’s new online beauty mag MARKTbeauty.com, rocking an emerald silk taffeta ruffled blouse and a lapis-colored tweed embroidered skirt from de la Renta with a pair of black peep-toe pumps and bold Tiffany & Co earrings. With so many stellar looks in a single day, it’s tough to decide which one’s the most elegant! Tell us: Which of Jessica Biel’s Oscar outfits do you like best? David Yi

Katherine Heigl’s Bouffant: Love It or Hate It?

Jon Furniss/WireImage

Talk about rocking a ‘killer’ look! While on the road promoting her new film Killers, Katherine Heigl has been going wild changing up her hair. Certainly the star has never shied from switching up her style — even going from brunette to blonde and back again in a day! But when she headed to London for today’s U.K. debut, the 31-year-old actress amped up the look — and quite possibly her age, with a structured bouffant that reminded us of the sprayed-in-place coifs from the Reagan-era ’80s. Paging Designing Women! Though the chic mom can pull off just about any look, it’s a distinct departure from the soft-and-pretty Hollywood hair standard we’re used to seeing on the red carpet. Tell us: Do you like Katherine’s big bouffant?

Rihanna: Excited to See ‘Voluptuous’ Figures in Fashion

Courtesy ELLE

A front-row regular at New York and Paris Fashion Week, Rihanna is known as a trendsetter–and not just for her daring fashion choices. In the July issue of Elle, the pop star, who in 2008 worked with Gucci on a series of ads to benefit UNICEF, says that as a woman of color, she was a groundbreaking choice for the campaign. “It’s clear there are definitely fewer black women in the high-fashion industry,” explains the Barbadian beauty, who shines in a beaded Balmain minidress on the magazine’s cover. “One of the things I respected most about Gucci was that they did a print campaign with me. I’m a black girl on a fashion spread for Gucci–that was a big deal. I respect designers who aren’t afraid to go outside the box.” And whether for a photo shoot or bounding down the runway, diversity is definitely something the star is excited to see in the fashion world. “I went to a Jean Paul Gaultier show, and I saw girls who are thicker than me, beautiful and voluptuous and different ethnicities. That made me so excited. I thought, Okay, I can work that, for sure,” she says. Hairstylist Ken Paves Wants to Answer Your Questions

Kevin Mazur/VF1/WireImage

Many stylists might shudder at the thought of tending to two of Hollywood’s hottest heads in one evening–but not star hairstylist Ken Paves, who created Victoria Beckham and Eva Longoria Parker’s easy breezy dos for a recent LG launch event. “It took me less than 20 minutes to create each look,” Paves told PEOPLE. Inspired by their “feminine, sexy” attire, he worked with their natural hair texture to create “modern, effortless” styles to match. Not only has Paves been kept busy tending to A-list tresses, he also recently launched his Self-Help hair care line available on QVC.com. PEOPLE asked Ken to dish on how to maintain your best hair when the heat is on. His number one tip is to stay away from shampoos with sulfates, which “strip hair of its color and natural oils. When combined with sun damage, hair can become extremely brittle and dry.” Stick with an SLS-free shampoo. The second step to great hair involves using a deep-conditioning treatment once a week, which, he explains, “restores the moisture in hair.” And to keep your hair frizz-free, “Try a styling cream before you using any heat styling tools.” To get more of Paves’ summer hair tips, pick up the current issue of PEOPLE, on stands now. If you have a fall hair question for Ken, now is your chance to ask! Send it to reader_questions@peoplemag.com (be sure to include your name and hometown, too) and you could see it featured in an upcoming issue of PEOPLE! —Jackie Fields

Princess Diana’s Dress Fetches More than $276,000 at Auction!

Anwar Hussein/WireImage

Princess Diana may be gone, but she’s certainly not forgotten. The daring black taffeta gown that she wore for her first public appearance as Prince Charles fiancée, fetched a whopping £192,000 (about $276,621) at Kerry Taylor Auctions in London yesterday. Bought by Chilean fashion museum Fundación Museo De La Moda, the dress–designed by Elizabeth Emanuel and David Emanuel–was sold along with an original copy of the invoice, fashion sketches, and photographs of Di wearing it. “As the weeks before her wedding progressed, Diana lost so much weight that she returned the gown to the Emanuels to have it taken in,” explained auctioneer Kerry Taylor at yesterday’s sale. “The alterations required were so drastic that they decided it would be easier to re-make a smaller version for her. They kept the original and forgot about it only re-discovering it quite recently.” A bold choice at the time for its color–which was reserved for funerals in royal circles–and its somewhat revealing nature, the strapless dress established Princess Diana as a budding fashion icon. Jorge Yarur, founder of the museum that bought the dress, said that upon his death, Princess Diana’s dress will be returned home, donated to Kensington Palace. –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley

Courtesy of Catherine Malandrino

After collaborating on a successful line of charitable t-shirts this winter, R&B singer Mary J. Blige and fashion designer Catherine Malandrino are teaming up again to throw their first fashion show together to benefit Blige’s nonprofit organization, FFAWN (Foundation For the Achievement of Women Now). Of next week’s show, Malandrino told WWD, “It’s about women and helping women.” And in that spirit, access to the show will not be limited to fashion insiders–$1000-tickets will secure seats at the June 15th event, being held at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. The steep price tag will help cover college tuition for 30 graduates of the Women’s Academy of Excellence in the Bronx as part of FFAWN’s initiatives. Blige and Malandrino have expanded beyond the original tees (which completely sold out at Bloomingdale’s last season) into a full-blown ready-to-wear collection of 25 different styles, including stylish tops and leather jackets, all of which will make their official debut at the show, where more than a few famous famous faces are slated to appear on the catwalk, according to WWD. For more info, visit FFAWN‘s Web site. –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley
