SNEAK PEEK: Madonna and Lourdes’s Material Girl Line for Macy’s

With summer in full swing, it’s tough to imagine but back-to-school shopping will be here sooner than we think. Happily, Madonna is giving us something to look forward to with Material Girl, the junior’s collection that the mega-star is designing with her 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes Leon (a.k.a. Lola). The just-released sketches of the fall 2010 collection, which is set to debut on August 3, definitely got us excited for the adorable mix of flirty minidresses, cute accessories, skinny jeans, and on-trend jackets, which will retail for an affordable $12 to $40 exclusively at Macy’s and macys.com. Madonna’s H&M line was a huge success that she was asked to do it again, which she did. Her intent was never to do any fashion-oriented stuff in the long run (only as a seasonal thing) since music and film are her priorities. She mentioned that when she was discussing this line, which is mainly Lola’s. Madonna’s fashion campaigns have also been extremely successful. As for the sketches… that’s what fashion sketches look like… I can’t believe that people can’t even grasp that. Look at more sketches and you’ll realize that.

I have seen more of the items in the line and there is definitely a range of items for a lot of tastes. Everything isn’t “revealing” but it is pretty stylish and it’s what I see girls in 12-20 year old range wearing. A return to the 80s & its influences are seen not only in music but in clothing as well. There is some 80s inspiration as well as a rock edge and judging by the reactions of girls around Lola’s age, I think the line will do well.

Really? That’s all you could come up with? Her name is Lourdes and her nickname has been Lola since she was an infant. What is wrong with that? Get your mind out of the gutter. You’re grasping at straws. Her daughter dresses her age and her daughter loves to design, hence this line which was done by Lourdes. Madonna’s supporting her daughter, like it or not.

okay, all of you narrow-minded mothers!
i agree with what one person said about them being sketches. that is exactly what they are, concepts of what the clothes are supposed to FEEL like to the eye.
to everyone who says the dresses look like “clubwear” and are “too short”, i have seen the actual dresses on a model and they hit at the knee!
if even that is too short for your little daughters, make them wear tights!
. . .and they dont have to wear heels with them.
everyone who hates these clothes, i think just hates Madonna in GENERAL.
frankly, i LOVE these designs and cannot wait until the line drops.
