'Hills' Star Lo Bosworth: Spinning Her Way to Skinny

Ever wonder how The Hills‘ stars always manage to look pulled-together–even after a late night of partying? According to Lo Bosworth, practice makes perfect. “From the beginning, we always did [our hair and makeup] ourselves. Every girl on the show is now a pro,” the low-key Hills cast member told PEOPLE. The 23-year-old, who counts Armani foundation, Cle de Peau concealer and her Shu Uemura eyelash curler as her key beauty tools, even ventured to say, “We could probably start our own business [as makeup artists] and be very successful. A lot of that comes from working with professionals for red carpet events and photo shoots.” So, with the sixth and final season wrapped, how has Bosworth been spending her time? In addition to writing The Lo-Down, her relationship guide book due out in January, Bosworth has been sweating it out as the face of Nivea’s Goodbye Cellulite, Hello Bikini Challenge, a four-week program of amped-up fitness, healthy eating, skincare and style. “As far as fitness, I love indoor cycling–it has made a really big difference. I feel a lot skinnier than I did last year,” says the reality star of her favorite Equinox spin classes. “It’s kind of the ultimate cardio.” The instructor-led group setting is a major motivating factor for the star. “Because if I’m by myself, I go to the gym and do 15 reps,” she jokes. “And then I’m like, ‘Oh, my e-mail. I need to make a phone call.’” –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley; reporting by Katherine Kluznik Rentmeester

Love when stars speak out that they DO have to work out, just like the rest of us. Especially ones that young women look up to, like Lo here. See ladies, even the stars with the hot bods have to work out to get that way. =)

Good for her, you go girl!

Wait … am I on glue? Did you just call a girl on The Hills as star? She does reality tv. She’s hardly a star. And women on The Hills are not role models. No girl should be looking up to them.

Um, like, I feel skinnier now because, like, last year I was a twig but that was too, like, fat. OMG, there’s a mirror, have to go check me out.

Many more important things going on in the world- use the status you have with young women and be an actual role model. Hysterical that you’ve chosen a campaign that centers around body image. Wait, not so hysterical. Typical.

ladies, you must realize that young girls and women DO look up to low, whether you like it or not. so the promotion of a healthy lifestyle not only by Lo but by other women in the media can help the country fight our overwhelming problem with obesity, 34% of Americans are obese. another 33% are overweight. though i agree these girls should not be role models, they are. and Lo, i love spinning too!

I know we are talking about “reality” tv here and the show probably set her up with a job, which happens to be Smashbox Cosmetics. So, am I wrong to say she is out of her mind plugging another line besides the one that employs her? She should be kicked out on her a**. LoBo…Enjoy the time you have in this ‘reality’ world. It will come to a close before you know it and then you will be scrambling to afford the products your endorsing!

Maggie, she works at Smashbox Studios, not the cosmetics company. And I agree that anyone advocating for healthy and eating and exercise is setting a good example for others.

Wow, it always cracks me up to see the bitter comments on here. Lo is probably the ONLY one on that show that girls should look up to and yet people still find reasons to knock her down. I am thin but still work out three times a week, not because I want to be super skinny, but because I want to be healthy and keep the size I’m at now, why should it be any different for this girl? I watch the show and honestly she looks no different this year than she did last year so acting like she has an eating disorder or is addicted to looking at herself or exercise is hardly necessary. I think what the REAL problem is that some of you are so unhappy with yourselves and your own life that you have to find reasons to pick at these young girls. How sad and pathetic that makes you look…..

You guys would complain about anything!! She’s classy, covered from head to toe–not out in a barely-there bikini, she’s talking about exercise, eating right, being healthy, and doing her own hair and makeup instead of being a diva. When you compare her to other girls her age that the media projects onto our impressionable youth- Lo Bosworth is actually quite a decent role model! And as far as the body image concerns-what female from 12-50 doesn’t concern themselves with celulite and bathing suit seasons? Nivea didn’t pick a bad role model, and at least Lo’s pitch is ‘exercise and eat right’ instead of ‘take these pills and you’ll drop pounds’.
