Mary J. Blige and Catherine Malandrino to Throw First FFAWN Fashion Show

After collaborating on a successful line of charitable t-shirts this winter, R&B singer Mary J. Blige and fashion designer Catherine Malandrino are teaming up again to throw their first fashion show together to benefit Blige’s nonprofit organization, FFAWN (Foundation For the Achievement of Women Now). Of next week’s show, Malandrino told WWD, “It’s about women and helping women.” And in that spirit, access to the show will not be limited to fashion insiders–$1000-tickets will secure seats at the June 15th event, being held at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. The steep price tag will help cover college tuition for 30 graduates of the Women’s Academy of Excellence in the Bronx as part of FFAWN’s initiatives. Blige and Malandrino have expanded beyond the original tees (which completely sold out at Bloomingdale’s last season) into a full-blown ready-to-wear collection of 25 different styles, including stylish tops and leather jackets, all of which will make their official debut at the show, where more than a few famous famous faces are slated to appear on the catwalk, according to WWD.
