Amanda Seyfried’s Hair Secret: ‘I Don’t Even Have A Blow-Dryer!’

Courtesy InStyle Hair

It’s glammed up today, but not tomorrow! At least that’s what Letters to Juliet star Amanda Seyfried says of her laid-back approach to her honey-colored tresses. “Nowadays I don’t do much with my hair,” InStyle Hair‘scover girl dishes inside the spring issue. “I don’t even have a blow-dryer because I don’t dry my hair. I probably flatiron my hair once every six months.” Lucky for her that she got star stylist Harry Josh to create four dazzling looks for her InStyle Hair shoot, including these cascading waves. But while the 24-year-old star is decidedly relaxed about her locks, she isn’t opposed to wearing a little makeup. Her favorites? Chanel nail polish, Maybelline Great Lash mascara and Dior DiorBlush Duo in Peachy Keen. “I just started wearing blush and realized how much more alive I look with it on,” says the actress. As for her self-described “bohemian” style, Seyfried says it hasn’t changed much since her career in Hollywood; she still opts for comfortable clothing like loose T-shirts, jeans and flats. So does this mean she’s adverse to heels? “No, I wear heels,” she says. “My legs are long and they’re the one part of my body I really like. Otherwise, though, I never wear heels on the weekend.” To read the full interview and get hair and beauty tips from her photo shoot, pick up InStyle Hair or go to InStyle.com. –David Yi

Queen Latifah: Down to a Size 12!

Mike Coppola/FilmMagic

As her reign as a Jenny Craig spokeswoman comes to an end, Queen Latifah showed up at the premiere of her new film Just Wright Tuesday night looking as fit as ever. The program “kept me focused and reminded me how to eat,” says the actress, who lost 25 lbs. and has managed to keep off the weight. “I eat a lot of fresh vegetables and a lot of fish and lean meat.” Formerly a size 18, Latifah, 40, says she can now comfortably fit into a size 14 or even size 12 in certain brands. Adding different activities to her work-out routine–like yoga once a week, and hiking–have kept her body healthy. As for yoga, “I haven’t mastered it, but I’m working on it,” she says. She also uses hiking as a time for meditation. “I’m not one of those people who’s going to talk all the way up the hill!,” the singer is quick to admit. “I’m going to breathe and block out all the things I don’t need to be thinking about.” And despite her frequent cravings for healthy fare like a goat cheese salad with beets and raspberry vinaigrette, Latifah won’t ever be one to give up her guilty pleasures: “I demand my mac and cheese!” And with good reason. “I’m happy with where my body is,” she says. –Thailan Pham

Beauty to the Rescue! Help Fight the Gulf Oil Spill by Donating Hair

Your hair could help the Gulf Coast cleanup effort! As pressure mounts to stop the BP oil spill slick from spreading into the Gulf of Mexico, hair salons (of the human and pet variety) in Alabama and Florida are already donating hair trimmings–those little clippings swept up after cuts–to help stop the environmental mess, reports The Huffington Post. Filling old stockings with shorn locks, the makeshift contraptions will be used as an oil-absorbing sponge to mop up the muck, and you can help! Nonprofit group Matter of Trust is collecting hair donations from salons and individuals like you to create these oil spill ‘booms.’ While clean hair is preferred, all locks–whether straight, curly and colored–are welcome! Thousands of pounds of hair have already been coming in via UPS and Fed Ex. To get more information and find out how you can donate, check out MatterofTrust.org.

Sarah Jessica Parker Credits Carrie Bradshaw with Making Her Style ‘Bolder’

Courtesy Marie Claire

In her role as Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker wouldn’t think twice about leaving her Upper East Side brownstone in an attention-grabbing outfit, but in her own life, Parker hasn’t always been quite so adventurous–at least until Patricia Fields, Sex And The City‘s costume designer, entered her life. “I’ve never revealed as much or been so daring or made quite as many triumphant mistakes as Carrie,” the actress tells Marie Claire in the June issue. “But I’m now bolder than I would have been had I never played this part.” Playing Carrie hasn’t only given Parker more guts when it comes to getting dressed in the morning, but it has also landed her three style-savvy friends in castmates Kristen Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall, who landed Marie Claire‘s subscriber cover (below). And while we can’t wait to see all four Sex and the City ladies reunite on the big screen on May 27, they can’t wait to see us head to the theater– literally. “I went out to dinner in New York on opening night, and I saw these packs of girls all dolled up in high heels walking down the street,” says Davis about the original movie’s debut. “And I realized they were going to see the movie! It was so adorable and flattering!” With the promise of more Manolos, Dior and Dolce, we are counting down the days.
