Just a week after Katy Perry (literally) lit up the Met Gala in her color-changing CuteCircuit LED gown, Rihanna proved she too could electrify a party, taking to the stage at London’s O2 Arena Monday night in a sweeping black drop-waist dress lined with what appears to be rows of tiny red lights. It’s no secret that Rihanna and Katy are close friends–having even taken tropical vacations together–so we can’t help but wonder if the two are also sharing style secrets. We’re not sure, but we love that the pop star pals are so sartorially simpatico. Tell us: Who wore her light-up gown better? –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley

Diane Kruger’s Calvin Klein Beauty Campaign Debuts

Courtesy Calvin Klein Beauty

Calvin Klein has a history of launching some of the world’s most provocative ads, from Brooke Shields’s career-making coos in the ’70s to the more recent steamy underwear ads starring Twilight hunk Kellan Lutz, but their newest fragrance campaign with Diane Kruger marks a distinct departure from the sex-sells credo. “Certainly sex is in our DNA, but this fragrance speaks to a different audience,” the label’s creative director Francisco Costa tells WWD of the print ad shot by photographer Craig McDean in Berlin. “It is…elegant, sophisticated, timeless and beautiful — and designed to appeal to a more mature customer. This is a woman in her 40s, who is self-assured and secure.” The campaign’s star knew that she’d be involved in something different from the campaign’s inception. “They showed me the concept, and it was classy. So I knew from the beginning that I didn’t have to take my clothes off,” she explains. The fragrance, which will feature notes of ambrette seeds, jasmine and cedarwood will starting at $50 for a 1-oz. eau de parfum, will launch in fall 2010. Marissa Jaret Winokur’s Tress Distress: ‘Nobody Likes My Hair Blonde!’

Michael Bezjian/WireImage

They say that gentlemen prefer blondes — just don’t try and tell that to former Dance Your Ass Off host Marissa Jaret Winokur, who recently ditched her big brown bouffant for a sun-kissed look that is more Barbie than Broadway. ”Nobody likes my hair blonde!” Winokur moans to PEOPLE. “I’ve had the exact same brown hair all my life, and my whole life people have been telling me to change my hair.” And so the Tony Award winner took the peroxide plunge, and though she loves her new look, she fears her golden locks are keeping her from doing what she loves–working in show business.” Every producer I have met has asked me to change my hair. I have always said ’No,’”  explains Winokur while attending the Silver Spoon Dog and Baby Buffet in Los Angeles this weekend. “I finally change it for me…and now everyone in the business is like, ‘You have to go back to having brown hair.’” While the leap from brunette to blonde was a difficult decision for the 37-year-old mother to make, it looks like it may be short-lived. “I’m sure that blondes have more fun, but I think that as a brunette I might work more.” Tell us: What do you think of Marissa’s hair? Better blonde or brunette? –Reagan Alexander

Kim Kardashian is ‘Proud To Rock Mom Jeans’

Sara De Boer/Startraks

What better time than Mother’s Day weekend for Kim Kardashian to confront the haters who blasted the curve-enhancing denim pants she wore last week, dismissing them as “mom jeans”? The reality star posted a retort to the unkind online chatter on her official website last Friday, blogging, “For some reason, high-waisted jeans are always branded with this negative term and I think it’s kind of ridiculous,” she wrote, referring to the sailor-inspired pair that she had sported. The newly single 29-year-old, who’s no stranger to unfriendly comments from the peanut gallery, went on to defend the stylish mothers of the world, like her sister Kourtney, saying,  “I don’t think these are mom jeans at all. And even if they are, who’s to say any mom wouldn’t look fabulous in them!? Any woman who is proud of her curves should be able to flaunt them in high-waisted jeans!!! So you know what… I’m proud to rock the mom jeans!” We bet Jessica Simpson seconds that emotion. Tell us: What do you think of Kim’s so-called “mom jeans”? Would you wear them? –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley
