Plus-Size Model Crystal Renn Not Losing Weight on Purpose

When plus-size supermodel Crystal Renn walked the runway for Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel cruise show in St. Tropez several weeks ago, tongues began wagging that she was losing her signature curves. Not so, says Renn’s agent. “She is not trying to lose weight at all,” her Ford Models agent tells PEOPLE. “She fluctuates between a 10 and a 14.” At the moment, she seems to be on the lower end of that range, in part, her agent says, because she’s been so active recently. “She went hiking in Patagonia for three weeks over the holidays and she firmed up and got a little smaller,” he says. “She has also been traveling like crazy and tends to be smaller when that happens.” Renn, 24, has been an outspoken critic of the modeling industry and chronicled her battle with anorexia in a 2009 memoir, Hungry. –Charlotte Triggs

No she is being a model for her peers not the real world. It is a joke and a shame they can not be what they were born to look like.

She is beautiful, and a major part of the problem is the critical reaction to a woman’s weight — at any weight. That means we HAVE to stop this “too fat!” and “too skinny!” stuff. It should be a non-issue as we focus on health.

She looks great. What I find disturbing that someone who is a size 10-14 is considered plus size.

She’s a size 10 and considered a PLUS SIZE MODEL? What is WRONG with the “fashion industry” anyway? The average size…AVERAGE size…for a women in the US is a 14. That would, logically, make this model AVERAGE, not PLUS. And we wonder why women have bad self images? Come on…

Since when is being a size 10 considered a “plus” size. I’m 5’7″ and fluctuate between a 6 and a 10 depending on brand. I’m about 140. And now I’m a “plus” size. Screw the modeling industry.

I don’t understand why models need to be categorized. Why do they have to slot into the ‘plus-sized’ group or the ‘super-skinny group’? Okay she lost weight, she’s still gorgeous and will be at any size

I just think it’s pathetic that a size 14 is considered plus size. Is it not surprising that those of us who are truley plus size tend to have issues with body image???

I totally agree. Plus size at a size 10-14. Come on people!!!! Give us women a break! Times are hard enough without us having to worry about body issues all the time. Make up your minds either we are too fat or too skinny. Why can’t we just be beautiful period!

Really a size 10 is plus size??? This is news to me. Actually pretty sickening.
