Marissa Jaret Winokur’s Tress Distress: ‘Nobody Likes My Hair Blonde!’

They say that gentlemen prefer blondes — just don’t try and tell that to former Dance Your Ass Off host Marissa Jaret Winokur, who recently ditched her big brown bouffant for a sun-kissed look that is more Barbie than Broadway. ”Nobody likes my hair blonde!” Winokur moans to PEOPLE. “I’ve had the exact same brown hair all my life, and my whole life people have been telling me to change my hair.” And so the Tony Award winner took the peroxide plunge, and though she loves her new look, she fears her golden locks are keeping her from doing what she loves–working in show business.” Every producer I have met has asked me to change my hair. I have always said ’No,’” explains Winokur while attending the Silver Spoon Dog and Baby Buffet in Los Angeles this weekend. “I finally change it for me…and now everyone in the business is like, ‘You have to go back to having brown hair.’” While the leap from brunette to blonde was a difficult decision for the 37-year-old mother to make, it looks like it may be short-lived. “I’m sure that blondes have more fun, but I think that as a brunette I might work more.” Tell us: What do you think of Marissa’s hair?
