Gap Celebrates the Met Costume Institute Exhibit with All-American T-Shirts

05/03/2010 at 12:55 PM ET

While we anxiously wait to see what the stars will be wearing at tonight’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala Benefit, Gap has something ready for us to wear. In homage to this year’s exhibit, American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity (on view from May 5 to August 15), the Gap’s creative director Patrick Robinson, who is a co-chair of the Met’s high-wattage ball this evening, has launched an adorable collection of limited-edition “American Woman” tees ($35 to $45), each representing iconic styles, from the ruffled Flapper tee (an homage to Roaring ’20s style) to the Gibson Girl top (at left), a riff on early 20th-century dressing. Snap up one of the limited-run T-shirts, available starting today, at gap.com!
