Melissa George Invents a Real-Life Fix for Too-Long Pants

Stefan Gosatti/Getty

What started as a fashion emergency ended up as a new business venture for former Grey’s Anatomy guest-star Melissa George. After ditching her five-inch heels for flats, the actress found her Balenciaga pants dragging on Madison Avenue; a frustrating stroll that led her to launch Hemming My Way–a set of adhesive snaps that lets you instantly alter pant lengths without permanent cuts or stitches–last fall. “I didn’t want to buy two pairs of the same pants or jeans just to be able to wear them with my flats,” she tells PEOPLE. “It’s costly, and takes up too much room–especially living in New York City, where space is limited.” The star, who created the product with her best friend-turned business partner, Kara Harshbarger, now happily skips the tailor. “You can snap up your long hem for a walk in the park, and unsnap to wear your favorite heels for lunch. Genius!” she says. Try Melissa’s clever invention out for yourself–and from today until Tuesday, April 27, StyleWatch readers can get 10% off! Visit hemmingmyway.com to purchase a box of six for just $18 (originally $20) by entering “HemInASnap” at checkout.–David Yi

Lauren Conrad Counters Crazy Schedule With Simple Skincare

Marion Curtis/Startraks

With two bestselling books, a film adaptation in the works and her clothing line to maintain, Lauren Conrad is always happy to simplify any aspect of her life — even if it’s just her skincare routine. “I used to use a ton of stuff,” she told PEOPLE on Monday while promoting Reese’s Day at the Hershey’s Times Square store in N.Y.C. “I’ve been going to Kate Somerville for a while now, and through facials and treatments they’ve weaned down my skincare regimen, which is nice. Now at night, I just use a mild face wash and an oil-free moisturizer.” Her low-maintenance practices will come in handy this fall when she embarks on a double book tour to promote a third novel and her new fashion tome, Lauren Conrad Style. “The style guide was so much fun to do,” she said. “We start our tour October 5, and I’m really excited.” But before she hits the road, she’ll be hard at work on a film project. “We are in the process of turning L.A. Candy into a movie. It’s very slow. It takes a while, I’m learning,” said the starlet, who is also updating her collection for Kohl’s with new seasonal looks. “I have a delivery coming up in a few months, and it’s my favorite yet,” she gushed. “Designing is a learning process, but it’s been fun. I’ve fallen more and more in love with it as time’s gone on.” We’re excited to see her new looks! – Kate Hogan

Seeing Double: Sheryl Crow and Tina Fey Rock the Same Dress at the Same Event

Ben Hider/PictureGroup

It was a friendly clash of couture on the red carpet at The New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards Monday, when honorees Sheryl Crow and Tina Fey showed up in virtually identical Dolce & Gabbana dresses. “If we wind up in one of those ‘Who Wore It Best’ things, I’m picking Tina,” Crow joked to the crowd at the luncheon. Standing just feet away from each other, Fey sported a quilted, floral printed sheath by the Italian design duo, while Crow’s dress had the same skirt paired with a slightly different printed silk top. When both women took the stage, they joked about seeing double. “[Fey] was so nice about it, but we told her it was okay because they both looked so great,” an event organizer told PEOPLE, adding that Fey even volunteered to go home and change. Fey, who covered her dress up with a black cardigan joked about “getting dressed this morning with Sheryl Crow.” We think both ladies looked lovely in Dolce & Gabbana, but what do you think? Tell us: Who wore Dolce & Gabbana better: Sheryl Crow or Tina Fey? Vote!Diane Clehane

Johnny Weir On His Future Clothing Line: ‘I Want To Have Mass Appeal’

Jonathan Ferrey/Getty

Johnny Weir is best known for the flamboyant flair and dazzling costumes that he flaunts while performing on ice rinks around the world—and now the Olympic ice skater is dishing about his plans to translate that sartorial pageantry into his own apparel line! “I definitely want to get a clothing line off the ground, but I need [to do] a lot of leg work,” he tells the LA Times. “You don’t want to be somebody that has someone else make them a line of clothing and put their name on it. I want to be sewing buttons and putting fur trim on things myself.” But don’t expect the ever-controversial star’s line to be too outlandish—he plans to tone it down for the masses. “I really admire Gareth Pugh, Viktor & Rolf, Karl Lagerfeld—avant-garde designers but still sort of mainstream,” says Weir. “I want to have mass appeal.” And while we’re already familiar with the 25-year-old’s signature pompadour, what are his other style musts? “I always have sunglasses on, even if it’s raining. Vintage Linda Farrow. Lots of Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton glasses,” he reveals. “I got a Balenciaga turquoise bag from my agent—I like making a statement, and a man carrying a turquoise bag is a statement.” With such bold style cues, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for his clothing line! Tell us: Are you excited to see Johnny Weir try his hand at designing?David Yi
