It’s Back to Brunette for Katharine McPhee

Albert Michael/Startraks

Katharine McPhee has gone (back) to the dark side. After transforming into a platinum blonde last August for her album Unbroken, McPhee went back to brunette on March 24–the day before her 26th birthday–for another work project. She’ll play a girl-next-door pharmaceutical rep in the NBC comedy pilot The Pink House, which shoots this month. “It’s always nice to have a reason to go back,” McPhee tells PEOPLE of the change, which is a rich shade of brown that’s a little lighter than her natural color. “I loved having blonde hair–it’s so much fun.” But there’s one thing McPhee won’t miss: “Blonde was pretty hard on my hair,” she admits. “I guess my hair is thanking me now!” Tell us: Which color do you prefer on Katharine?–Marisa Laudadio

FIRST LOOK: Andy Roddick Takes A ‘Challenge’ As Lacoste’s Newest Face

Think tennis ace Andy Roddick got pointers from his wife Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover model Brooklyn Decker for his new Lacoste campaign? Because he certainly looks like a pro! The all-American athlete was tapped as the newest face for Lacoste’s Challenge fragrance, following in the footsteps of actor Hayden Christensen. “I’m thrilled that Lacoste invited me to be the face of its men’s fragrance, Challenge,” Roddick says in a release. “This fresh, and dynamic fragrance represents well the image of Lacoste as a chic, sporty and elegant brand.” And the feeling is mutual. “We’re delighted to be working with Andy as the face of Lacoste Challenge as he is the natural embodiment of the brand’s youthful, modern image,” Christophe Chenut, CEO of Lacoste says in a release. The new ad campaign depicts a very cool and collected Roddick gazing just past the camera in a signature Lacoste black polo shirt. The fragrance, a mix of citrus and aromatic lavender, is available in stores now for $40-$60. Tell us: What do you think of Roddick’s new campaign?

Emma Watson Is Homesick For London Fashion

Mehdi Taamallah/Abaca

Actress and budding designer Emma Watson has mostly acclimated to her all-American, Ivy League lifestyle at Brown University, but the 19-year-old beauty reveals that there is still one thing she misses from home: London fashion. “It’s so funny because now that I’m in America, I’m more able to define it,” she told WWD. “Before, I didn’t have an awareness of another style.” The Harry Potter star, who co-hosted a party for emerging London designers on March 25th in an on-trend floral-and-lace dress by UK designer Christopher Kane, elaborated on the differences between looks on both sides of the pond. “I think [British style] has to do with the weather,” she says. “We have terrible weather. It’s very gray and drizzly so we need things to cheer us up. And I think that leads to a lot of creativity and color, and…why our designers are so innovative.” And with so much fashion experience–from modeling for Burberry campaigns to designing an eco-friendly line–the young fashionista is well on her way to becoming a style icon, thanks to her British-influenced style. “We have great vintage and we love to mix and match: high street and high fashion, vintage…and I think that really defines it as well.” Tell us: What do you think of Emma Watson’s British style?David Yi

Justin Bieber or Tim Urban: Who Has the Better Hair Swoosh?

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic; Kevin Winter/Getty

When it comes to a guy’s mane style, nothing’s hipper these days than the laid back hair swoosh. And no one does it better than “Baby”-crooning star Justin Bieber, whose shiny soft hair apparently naturally sweeps across his face. But when the 16-year-old appeared on American Idol earlier this week, we couldn’t help but compare his hair to that of contestant Tim Urban, whose own eyebrow-grazing locks seem to be helping him sweep votes from young fans across the country. With both shaggy cuts suiting the singers’ styles–pop star and acoustic performer, respectively–we can’t decide whose we like better. Tell us: Who pulls off shaggy bangs best?David Yi
