Tyra’s Newest Model Find: A ‘Fiercely Real’ Contest Winner

Michael Loccisano/Warner Bros

She’s a size 14 and fierce: Meet Sheridan Watson, the 17-year-old winner of Tyra Banks’ newest modeling competition, the Fiercely Real Teen Model Search. “Since cycle 1, the teen fans of America’s Next Top Model have written me letters and have approached me…asking me ‘Tyra, when are you going to do a cycle for teens?’” Banks tells PEOPLE. So this year, Banks launched the first ever plus-size teen modeling search, which invited girls between ages of 13 and 19 who wear a dress size between 12 and 20 to compete for a contract with Wilhelmina Models and the cover of Banks’ MagaLine Tyra: Beauty Inside & Out. As the winner, “I’m still waiting for it all to hit me,” says the New Jersey-based Watson. “Growing up it was like modeling was not an appropriate profession for someone my size because I’ve always been curvy.” Now, she says, “I know it is possible.” In addition to expanding “the narrow definitions of what’s considered beautiful,” Banks — who will continue to host this contest annually on her site tyra.com — says she’s looking to redefine the term plus-size. “The term plus-sized is so misleading so I’m renaming it Fiercely Real,” explains Banks. “What’s considered plus-sized in the fashion industry is actually average in the real world. I want women to realize that the women they see in the magazines are not the norm.” See more at tyra.com and pick up this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday for even more from Tyra.

Leighton, Zoe and Amanda on What Makes Them Feel Glamorous

Matthias Vriens-McGrath For GLAMOUR

While Manhattan’s Upper East Side might be a world away from the computer-generated forest of Avatar, Leighton Meester and Zoe Saldana have one thing in common along with Amanda Seyfried: their much-coveted style, which has landed them each an April cover of Glamour and a spot on their most glamorous list! Leighton, whom the magazine names as “Most Stylish”, credits Gossip Girl costume designer Eric Daman for helping her dress both on-and-off screen. “I see what I like from the [runway], but it’s about mixing and matching. Daily life shouldn’t be a fashion show all the time,” Leighton says. And for Seyfried, named “Most Down-to-Earth”, it isn’t all about the glitz and glam of Hollywood. “A smoky eye and nice hair are not going to make my night any easier… I have to feel good on the inside to look glamorous,” she says. But, it can help sometimes, as she recalls the Mamma Mia! world premiere in London. “I was wearing Miu Miu, and I needed to look amazing, because I was starting to really fall in love with my boyfriend [actor Dominic Cooper, her costar in the movie]. I wanted him to see how glamorous I could be.” It’s not about either clothing or makeup for Zoe. “I love aging! Why would I want to be 21 for the rest of my life? Glamour is about feeling good in your own skin,” the “Most Elegant” star tells the magazine. Hear more from Glamour‘s cover girls in the April issue, on newsstands March 9, or online at glamour.com. Kelly Osbourne’s New Lavender Hair: Love It Or Hate It?

Charley Gallay/Getty Images for Vanity Fair

And now the reality-TV star has us buzzing again with her newly-dyed purple locks which she debuted yesterday on her Twitter account. “I know it’s lavender but having my hair this color makes me feel me again!” she tweets. Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen Combine Friends and Family in Designs

Dario Cantatore/FilmMagic

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen already have a successful working relationship, but for their new juniors clothing line, Olsenboye, they’re giving credit to their friends too. “We’ve been working with our friends who are our age and in art school,” Mary-Kate told PEOPLE last night at a JCPenney style event in New York, which featured spring apparel from Olsenboye in a fashion show. Ashley added, “They’ve helped out with the art on the web sites and doing the commercials and the videos.” The 23-year-old twins recently launched the line, available exclusively at JCPenney, to primarily appeal to teens, with most price tags under $50. “All the people at JCPenney have totally embraced all of our friends that have now participated in these projects and it’s a lot of young talent and I think it’s really exciting,” says Mary-Kate. And with their newest collection sure to be on young fashionistas’ spring shopping lists, Ashley knows one trend she is definitely skipping. “I’m a fan of strong shoulders, but I think the extreme shoulder, to me–it takes a very special person to pull it off. And I’m kind of ready to move on from that,” she says. Shop the Olsenboye collection at JCPenney.com now!–Mari Kasanuki

Jessica Szohr’s Style Muse: Her ‘Gossip Girl’ Character Vanessa Abrams

Courtesy Lucky

Onscreen Blake Lively‘s Serena van der Woodsen and Leighton Meester‘s Blair Waldorf might outshine Jessica Szohr‘s Brooklyn-bred Vanessa Abrams with their Upper East Side haute couture, but that isn’t stopping Jessica from upping her fashion game off-screen. “I’m learning more and more about clothes and designers from being a part of Gossip Girl and living in New York,” the star tells Lucky in their April issue. “In fittings now, I’m like, ‘I love that Diane von Furstenberg skirt or this Rag & Bone jacket,’ whereas before, I wouldn’t have recognized those labels.” And for a girl who claims to just be getting into the label game, her collection of designers is growing at a rapid rate — thanks in part to her own character’s quirky fashions. “I see all these pieces that Vanessa wears and I’m like, ‘Wait, I’ve got to get that!’” Right now, her shopping list includes labels that any seasoned fashionista would covet. “Thakoon dresses fit me really well and always have the best patterns,” says Jessica. “I’ve been carrying a lot of Rebecca Minkoff bags lately — I think she’s good with embellishment.” But, the one label that Jessica can’t seem to get enough of is Marc Jacobs. “It’s happened to me so many times: I’ll pick something up off a rack and it will inevitably be Marc Jacobs.” Hear more about Jessica’s fashion and beauty must-haves in Lucky‘s April issue, on newsstands this week, or online at luckymag.comAndrea DeSimone
