From global pop sensation to high fashion model, is there anything Madonna can’t do? Apparently not. Joining forces with Iconix Brand Group, Inc. (the company behind such labels as Candie’s and Badgley Mischka), the Queen of Pop is set to take the fashion world by storm with the launch of her own style empire, called MG Icon. “Joining forces with Iconix to bring my fashion ideas to consumers is very exciting for me,” says Madonna in a press release. First up will be a junior collection, appropriately labeled Material Girl. Launching exclusively at Macy’s stores and Macys.com in August 2010, Material Girl will include apparel, footwear, handbags and jewelry — all retailing from $12-$40. The collection was inspired and designed by both Madonna and her daughter Lourdes along with the in-house fashion team at Iconix Brand Group. And come 2011, Madonna plans to add beauty and fragrance options to her juniors line, so stay tuned for more details on Madonna’s growing fashion brand. For now, we’re counting down the days till we see what cutting-edge designs this quirky mother-daughter team come up with! Tell us: Will you buy Madonna’s designs?Andrea DeSimone

I’m a huge Madonna fan, but gee whiz, enough is enough! She already had an H&M line! I say stick with performing.

Seriously! Why does every single person in the entertainment industry feel the urge to dabble in fashion??? Enough already!

I am not thinking this is going to be great. I mean, it’s not good to be a jack of all trades, master of none.

I love this idea. I like that even thought her whole imagine to begin with was all SEX I have noticed her daughter dresses in a much less provocative way but still has style and flair. Which is great. I am the mother of 3 beautiful daughters and am really hoping for some funky designs that will still meet my conservative requirements for my teenage daughters. I hope she gives us bright colors and fun designs but that she keeps the neck lines and skirt lengths conservative for all the wonderful teenage girls who will surely be looking to her fashion line.

Nope. So sick of Madonna

Please spare us. Fade into history where you belong.

The woman looks like an old hag. She needs to get some cosmetic work done and then stay home with her kids. We don’t need any more self absorbed bimbos out there.

I think I would buy this of course if the pricing is 12-40.00 range. Her daughter I’ve read has some talents in fashion this would be a good business for her to develop her talents. I just hope they are not too young. I do like Lourdes styles she wears, nothing to over the top.

Many fashion lines of celebs have failed. It is a hard and very competitive business.

Why is it that so many American’s believe that people should “fade into history” as they age? It really is a sad trait of our society. Other countries celebrate aging, whereas we treat people as though they have nothing valuable to contribute once they reach a certain age. I’m especially surprised to see women make such comments about other women, because female celebrities are often the biggest targets of ageism.

I’m so sick of people in the entertainment biz claiming suddenly to be fashion designers. People study for a long time to learn that business – at what school did Madonna study?

Aaron on

Geez Mary–Coming from a woman that was a lame thing to say. Have you EVER heard a man being told to “get some cosmetic surgery and stay home with the kids?” She’s a smart business woman, who like all good business people, know how to expand her brand.

I think it is great if she wants to do it and she is doing it at reasonable prices. By the way, if you got to mention it, she did a clothing line with H&M as well M by Madonna. I thought you should know that. Thank you.

As you may recall, Maddy previously ventured into the world of fashion when she teamed up with H&M to oversee the M by Madonna line for the clothier (see sketches below).
