Alexander McQueen Fashion Label To Continue

Eyevine/Zuma

While the world still mourns the death of British designer Lee McQueen, founder and creative director of the Alexander McQueen label, after his suicide last week, WWD reports today that the fashion brand will soldier on. “We believe in the future of the brand. Lee was very proud of the people working in his company, and so am I.” said Robert Polet, president and chief executive officer of the Gucci Group, which has a majority stake in the McQueen line. Though the New York fashion show for the designer’s contemporary label, McQ, was abruptly canceled the day of McQueen’s passing, the runway presentation for the Alexander McQueen collection will be held on March 9 during Paris Fashion Week. – Emily Hsieh

Is Nicole Richie Wedding Dress Shopping at Fashion Week?

Gustavo Caballero/WireImage

Marchesa is already loved by stylish stars like Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway and Halle Berry, and we can now add Nicole Richie to the list — but was she shopping for anything in particular when she dropped by the line’s presentation this afternoon? Making a dazzling appearance in a frothy white dress by the line, Richie tells PEOPLE, “I truly loved everything.” And while Richie may have stayed mum on her motives for dropping by, other than affirming that Georgina Chapman is one of her favorite designers, the whole Chelsea Art Museum was buzzing about her upcoming nuptials. “I congratulated her on her engagement,” stylist Phillip Bloch tells PEOPLE. “I said, ‘Can you believe he kept it a secret that long?’ And she said, ‘Thanks to good friends.’” And does Bloch think any of the dresses in the Marchesa collection would work as a wedding gown? “Oh, yes. I can see her doing something short, a little bit unique, not the classic. She likes the vintage feel. There was this pink, one-shouldered gown. I bet this is where she gets her wedding dress, because she’s worn them a lot and they’re friendly. I would imagine Marchesa is at the top of the list.” Star-fave jeweler Lorraine Schwartz seconded the thought, telling PEOPLE “Marchesa is the only way to go.” Marchesa designer Chapman, was thrilled by Nicole’s appearance in one of her archive designs. “She looked beautiful,” added Chapman. “She looks beautiful in everything.” And would Chapman like to custom design a gown for the wedding? “Of course,” said Chapman. “Who wouldn’t?” –reporting by Jeffrey Slonim

Would You Wear Super-Smoky Eyes Like Leighton?

Larry Marano/Retna

We may have come to love Leighton Meester as fresh-faced, headband-loved Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, but this year, she’s channeled her inner rockstar for a successful singing career — and some serious makeup in the process. Nothing says rocker chick like smoky eyes, but this geometric version might be a bit too extreme to play anywhere off the stage, at least for most of us. But we want to know what you think! Tell us: Would you wear a super-smoky eye like Leighton?

Victoria Beckham: ‘I Wear the Feathers in My Relationship’

Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage

This year’s Olympians in the men’s figure skating division might dazzle audiences with their athleticism, but they don’t impress Victoria Beckham with their fashion choices. The British fashionista, who appeared as a guest host on Wednesday’s The View, said “there’s nothing good” about the tight, sequined, feathered costumes worn by male figure skaters. “I wear the feathers in my relationship,” Beckham said. “If [husband] David came home dressed like that – could you imagine? Terrible.” Beckham also told her View co-hosts that she was thrilled over the “amazing response” to her Fall 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week. And her sartorial sense came into play for another of her guest roles: that of judge on American Idol:“Even if [contestants are] hopeless, they might have a pretty good pair of shoes on.” Beckham also took some good-natured ribbing from co-host Sherri Shepherd about the signature, close-lipped half-smile she’s often photographed with. She retaliated by pointing out that her recent photo shoot with Glamour magazine shows her happily romping around with a puppy—which then prompted her and David to get an English bulldog for their kids. Proving she wasn’t too offended by Shepherd’s jokes, Beckham offered to design an Oscar dress for her.-Blane Bachelor

First Look: Justin Timberlake’s “Nomadic Biker” Collection for William Rast

Courtesy William Rast; Frank Micelotta/Getty

In the midst of frantic preparations for their William Rast fashion show in New York today, Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala paused to talk to PEOPLE last night to share more about the upcoming collection, including this exclusive sketch. “We would be nervous if we had time to be,” admits Timberlake, while Ayala reveals that, “all of our buttons and rivets and trims got left in a cab last night.” Even within the frenzy, the pair still had time to wax poetic about the range, inspired by a “spiritual soul searching nomadic biker journey.” As avid road-trippers themselves, the theme isn’t entirely surprising: “We just get on our bikes and go,” says Timberlake, who expounds, “a year ago we introduced this concept of New America because we thought it was very timely. I think with that concept comes the concept of discovery and that’s sort of the theme of what we’re pushing forward.” Asked to choose favorites in the series, Ayala says, “Personally I’m a huge denim person myself and our jeans are really on point,” and cites a snakeskin print pair as his pick. Timberlake, meanwhile, enthuses: “I love our leather jackets. We have these tweed dusters on top of these tight leather jackets mixed with a little bit of a Native American influence on the girls with foxtails. It’s pretty cool.” With William Rast branching out into eyewear and shoes, we wanted to know how their personal style is evolving too. While Ayala cops to “wearing more black” while Timberlake professes: “I find that every year that goes by my clothing gets more and more simple. You just get things that are durable and wearable—that’s where I’m going.” – reporting by Michelle Tan
