Mary J. Blige Debuts Do-Gooding T-shirts with Catherine Malandrino

Much in the way that Mary J. Blige’s R&B tracks have empowered women for years, her new non-profit line of T-shirts emblazoned with hand-written messages like, “I’m Free” and “I’m Power” made with in conjunction with fashion designer pal Catherine Malandrino aspires to do the same. The collection, called FFAWN + Malandrino, will benefit the singer’s charity, Foundation for the Achievement of Women Now, an organization that she launched in 2008 to help underprivileged women. “Catherine has been a dear friend of mine for years and, after she learned about FFAWN and our mission, she offered to create a T-shirt collection that would celebrate being women, being strong and being free,” Blige tells WWD, adding, “Even better, every woman can feel beautiful and comfortable rocking these tees just about anywhere.” For her part, Malandrino, who also recently accepted a position on FFAWN’s board of directors along with the likes of Jay-Z, explains, “These are not your average T-shirts.” The new range of black and white off-the-shoulder tunics will retail starting at $39 and will debut on Feb. 17 at Malandrino boutiques and at Bloomingdale’s stores nationwide. Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper Get “Glam” With M.A.C to Fight AIDS

Courtesy M.A.C

Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper are joining forces as the dual faces of M.A.C. Cosmetics’ newest Viva Glam campaign: From Our Lips. Every cent of the $14 sale price of Viva Glam lipsticks and lipglasses bearing the pair’s respective signatures will help the M.A.C AIDS Fund, which has already raised over $150 million to fight the disease, to create model programs that address women living with HIV/AIDS. So why this dynamic duo? “We have one artist that hit the music industry at the beginning of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, and another that is explosively popular with young people today,” explains John Demsey, Group President, Estee Lauder Companies and Chairman, M·A·C AIDS Fund. And Lauper affirms that the charity hits close to home: “I lost a lot of dear friends to AIDS before we even knew what it was,” she says. “I’m not a politician. I am just a mom who happens to have the benefit of being famous and can bring attention to something that is wrong and needs to be righted.” For Lady Gaga, it’s all about bringing awareness to her fans. “This is an important message to relay to the younger generation,” she says. The lipsticks themselves don’t disappoint: Lauper describes hers as “A really fabulous red…and it’s called Cyndi. How cool is that?” While Gaga says, “My new Viva Glam lipstick colour is amazing. It’s a bluish pink, great for everyday. It’s a little bit ‘80s, which is very me.” Shop maccosmetics.com to get “Glam” and give back. Emily Blunt: Don’t Make Me Thinner

Courtesy LA Times Magazine

Though 26-year-old Emily Blunt looks like a modeling pro with her long, lean frame on the cover of this month’s Los Angeles Times Magazine, she says she would appreciate it if she looked more like herself in photos. “I told him [the airbrusher] not to make me thinner,” she says of another photo shoot. “I hate when your legs are three times the length they actually are. It’s unfair to represent an image of yourself if it’s not true. They’re gonna see what you look like on film anyway, so why try to cover all your wobbly bits in a photo?” The recently engaged (to The Office’s John Krasinski) star defends her weight from critics who still say she was forced to starve herself for the role in Devil Wears Prada.“I was definitely encouraged to lose weight–not because I was overweight but because I was playing a character who was edge-of-ill thin. She literally doesn’t eat. I couldn’t turn up with love handles, but it wasn’t like doughnuts were snatched out of my hand.” But these days, the grounded actress, who wore a stunning pink tulle and chiffon Dolce and Gabbana gown to the Golden Globes, says she’s used to criticism–especially when it comes to dressing on the red carpet.”I think if you go to the awards, you have to be willing to understand that some people are going to loathe your dress,” she says. “You have to allow yourself to be torn apart. It’s exciting to do something so out of the rhythm of your normal life.” Visit latimesmagazine.com to read more from Emily. – David Yi

As the spokesperson for “Fashion For Haiti,” Beyoncé has a message for all fashionistas: “Join me and the fashion industry by buying and wearing the Fashion for Haiti T-shirt. Together we can send a message of hope by raising much needed funds for the people of Haiti.” In addition to Beyoncé, fashion designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger and more are rallying to promote the $25 knit. The CFDA will donate the net proceeds from each T-shirt to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. Look for the tee to hit shops and e-boutiques on February 16. EXCLUSIVE: Whoopi Goldberg Brings Humor and ‘Poise’ to Her New Campaign

Signing on to be the spokesperson for Poise, Whoopi Goldberg channels famous female icons of the past dealing with LBL, including Cleopatra, Lady Godiva and the Mona Lisa in hilarious ads and “Great Women in History” webisodes. While Whoopi can’t pick her favorite of the women she created (she picked the women and wrote the dialogue), she says there is one more surprising lady she’d like to portray: Sarah Palin! “If I could add one more it would be Sarah Palin. I don’t have a favorite, because they are all my creations.” Whoopi exclusively tells PEOPLE that she wanted to tackle the issue of light bladder leakage because “I wanted to help Poise get the word out on a very common issue that many women experience but don’t talk about. I wanted to address women’s issues and not be embarrassed by them.” See more of Whoopi and find out more at 1in3likeme.com.
