Victoria Beckham: ‘I Wear the Feathers in My Relationship’

This year’s Olympians in the men’s figure skating division might dazzle audiences with their athleticism, but they don’t impress Victoria Beckham with their fashion choices. The British fashionista, who appeared as a guest host on Wednesday’s The View, said “there’s nothing good” about the tight, sequined, feathered costumes worn by male figure skaters. “I wear the feathers in my relationship,” Beckham said. “If [husband] David came home dressed like that – could you imagine? Terrible.” Beckham also told her View co-hosts that she was thrilled over the “amazing response” to her Fall 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week. And her sartorial sense came into play for another of her guest roles: that of judge on American Idol:“Even if [contestants are] hopeless, they might have a pretty good pair of shoes on.” Beckham also took some good-natured ribbing from co-host Sherri Shepherd about the signature, close-lipped half-smile she’s often photographed with. She retaliated by pointing out that her recent photo shoot with Glamour magazine shows her happily romping around with a puppy—which then prompted her and David to get an English bulldog for their kids. Proving she wasn’t too offended by Shepherd’s jokes, Beckham offered to design an Oscar dress for her.-Blane Bachelor

FYI- those feathers were designed by Vera Wang, a true fashion designer and artist.

I disagree. While some of us may not understand the costumes, each to their own. We don’t judge Victoria & her same snobby pose photo, after photo..

Sorry, but I fully agree with Victoria. I actually saw these figure skaters live and let me tell you, some of them looked a little too feminine for me. Men figure skaters should look like men. End of story. You don’t like my opinion, too bad.

She needs to SHUT IT!

Who the he** does she think she is?

Without the beckham name, she’d be that washed up “singer” from that long ago manufactured bubble gum “pop group” the spice girl’s.

She’s nothing in the grand scheme of “celebrity dome” although she thinks that she’s the frickin Queen of England.

Can’t stand the stuck-up pretencious bit**~ Go back to the UK- Loser!~

I don’t think feathers look that masculine on the guys. The sexiest male ice skater was Phillipe Candeloro…and for part of the routine, his shirt was usually off. Male skaters! We don’t care if you’re straight or gay, but give us the beefcake!

Hey Mel, you can’t follow the “We don’t judge Victoria &…” with the words “her snobby pose photo after photo.” And not believe that you are not passing judgement. Relax. Free speach. Who cares if she likes the feathers or not, really.

Neither clothes nor costume makes the man, whether he’s a skater or a diesel mechanic. Fashion designers are a dime a dozen and they’ll try anything to make a buck, including making male skating attire pop for the public. Individual choices are just that, so let’s let the skaters choose whatever they want to wear. The man and the skill are there inside!

Skating is a form of art..
so shouldn’t the outfits be artforms too?

and if the best you can do is look at the outfits and not watch the actual skating, that in itself is pretty sad.

loose the feathers? really? Evan Lysacek’s feathers were completely tasteful, understated, and classy. if she wants to rip on a male skater’s outfit, let’s hear about Johnny Weir’s tassel, or the back of Vaughn Chipeur’s way too sparkly, colorful, downright confusing outfit.
and let’s not forget that sure, maybe Evan’s costume had feathers, but it was one of the more manly, sophisticated, and sexy costumes of the night.

Is it news that a woman doesn’t like to see a man dancing around in feathers and sequins? Perhaps she happened to make a comment and it turned into a “story.”
