Tim Gunn on Heidi Klum: “She Really Is Superwoman”

Heidi Klum just a supermodel? Hardly. With four kids, two new maternity lines, and Project Runway hosting duties, it’s more like Superwoman Heidi Klum, says her Runway co-star Tim Gunn. “I don’t know how she does it. She really is Superwoman,” Gunn told PEOPLE at Wednesday’s Red Dress Awards in Manhattan. “I don’t have even one quarter of what she has on her plate, and I always feel like I’m a hair shy of a psychotic breakdown.” Did Klum, who gave birth to daughter Lou Sulola in October, “make it work” with her foray into maternity fashion? “Oh, Heidi always makes it work,” Gunn gushed. “But yes, she’s really infused fashion into maternity ware, and I’m crazy about what she’s doing. I think it’s wonderful.” Gunn, who is now filming the final episodes of Project Runway Season 7 at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, recently teamed up with Campbell Soup Company to help raise awareness about heart disease, the number-one killer of women. At Woman’s Day magazine’s Red Dress Awards, Gunn honored the winner of Campbell’s adDress Your Heart campaign. It’s an issue that’s close to his heart: Gunn’s own mother has heart disease. “She’s had a wonderful life and she’s been fighting this disease for a long time, and frankly, she’s getting tired,” he told PEOPLE. “She’s in the hospital now, so this is an issue that is part of my life and it means a great deal to me.”

Actually to be correct she is “SuperBCL”!!!!

What is the deal with all the posters hating on Heidi? She is blessed because she has worked hard to get there and sacrificed a great deal in the beginning (even still today probably some!)

You log onto people.com to get the dish on celebs – if you are so resentful maybe you should start your own blog where only people who care to hear about how unfair your life is can get their fill – otherwise shut up! I’m so sick of getting on here and having to read thru your powertrips about how unworthy celebs are of good press, praise, happieness, etc.

I say GOOD FOR HER & THEM!

Quit acting like someone rained on your parade

I agree with Rachael…what is up with all the hateful posts. I am a single mother working two jobs raising a teenage son that I hope to put through collge and I love Heidi…she is down to earth….a great personality and she has a wonderful family. So what if she has help?? Does it affect your life one way or the other? I don’t think so…………get over it!

What’s BCL?

Wow. Readers of People magazine complaining about others who are valued because of their looks…anyone else see the irony? Unfortunately for some of you, society doesn’t place a high value on being disrespectful toward people you never have and probably never will. If that were the case, some of you would be quite wealthy. So, until that changes, might I suggest you find different reading material that does not cause you such misery?

Excuse me…my last post should read, “…you never have met and probably never will.”

Love the show. Admire Heidi for her successful career, marriage and family. I have to say though, it really bothers me when she pronounces Marie Claire Magazine “Mary Claire”. It makes my teeth clench……

I know…small thing to complain about, especially since she is such a successful woman, but…..we all have pet peeves, no?

I do, however, ADORE Tim G. and wish his mom a quick recovery.

I understand in context what Tim G. is claiming he admires her for and he is correct in a restrained aspect. They do clearly live in a world very different from any of ours on an everyday basis though so the comparisons are few.

In HER world, she is a superwoman. In our normal everyday world I think it could be argued on some level that her kids and family life would have to be neglected at least in some tiny fraction if a non-celebrity woman were taking on so many projects and tasks.

In my personal opinion, I admire her as a strong female figure for all of her current projects EXCEPT when it comes to Victoria Secret. Another representation of sexual exploitation of women for commercial profit and man’s benefit. Sorry, I’m a very modern woman but nothing about VS speaks strong, independent woman to me there.

She absolutely has the right to hire as many staff and nannies, etc as she wants. Heck, don’t think for a minute I’d be scrubbing my own toilets if I didn’t have to. LOL But if I were in her position and someone tried to honor me and label me a “superwoman” I would politely decline the title, and turn around and give the crown to a more deserved person than myself. For the who has left her children to fight on the front lines for my freedom, is a lot more deserving than I could ever be.

I’m truly not understanding all of the comments from the posters who think imply that she has a great family life, a great marriage, etc. How do you know? None of us know what goes on behind closed doors, doesn’t anyone know that by now? Not one single person here truly personally knows either one of them or their children and what their family life is about on a daily basis and I have never laid claims to know this info. I only know about the latter because she has stated it herself in past interviews. I hope that she is and things are everything people have stated. I wish nothing but great things for her, I just wanted to state that we must keep things in perspective or at least that’s what I try to do.

I read this article because I admire Tim Gunn. He’s always impeccably dressed without being trendy. He’s always polite and respectful. His criticisms are constructive and encouraging, he listens to others’ ideas and even if he disagrees, he’s willing to concede the possibility he could be wrong.

My Mom died from heart disease at 58. She had many episodes over several years, and I think she got tired too. Miss you, Mom.

Good wishes to Tim & his Mom. She sure did a good job.
