Stars Shine at Sonia Rykiel Pour H&M Launch

Marion Curtis/Startraks

Hot on the heels of design houses like Matthew Williamson, Jimmy Choo and Stella McCartney, who have all created successful H&M lines, comes Sonia Rykiel. And at last night’s launch event at New York restaurant Bobo, stars like Leighton Meester and Kelly Rutherford turned out to show their stylish support as brand president and artistic director Nathalie Rykiel chatted with PEOPLE about her inspirations. “When you design, you are like a sponge,” she says. “It can be the girl from Gossip Girl or what happened just in Haiti.” Hollywood never fails to leave her short on muses, she tells PEOPLE. “I think it’s interesting to have all sorts of characters. And whether it’s Lady Gaga or Beth Ditto or whoever, I think it’s fantastic to see that women feel so free and they can push the limits so very far. I think it’s a testament of what’s going on in society.” Sonia Rykiel Pour H&M’s bright, colorful colored clothing will hit national retail stores on Feb. 20, but you can visit h&m.com now for a sneak peek—c’est magnifique!
