Rachel Bilson Designs Jewelry For Charity

Courtesy InStyle

Following a trip to Botswana and South Africa last December to learn more about improvements made in the diamond mining industry, actress, fashion designer, and InStyle contributing editor Rachel Bilson was inspired to take matters into her own hands to promote the cause. InStyle reports that the 28-year-old star has just created a bracelet to benefit the Diamond Empowerment Fund, a non-profit that supports education in Africa. The new Bilson-designed accessory strikes a nice balance between rugged and refined, comprised of earthy brown leather cords punctuated by a twisted gold charm that frames a dainty, sparkly round diamond. It retails for $100, with $20 from the sale of each piece going to the Diamond Empowerment Fund to build student housing at the CIDA City Campus, a university in Johannesburg. Marisa Miller: Still A Victoria’s Secret Girl

Thomas Lau/CelebrityPhoto

Not so fast! Despite rumors that sexy supermodel Marisa Miller has been relieved of her duties at Victoria’s Secret, the brand says that’s just not true. “The rumor regarding Marisa Miller and Victoria’s Secret parting ways is unfounded and untrue,” Ed Razek, President and Chief Marketing Officer of Victoria’s Secret, says in a statement to PEOPLE. “We adore Marisa and we will continue to work with her in the future.” Miller, who memorably modeled the brand’s iconic diamond bra in 2009, surely feels the same way. “It’s amazing to be a part of Victoria’s Secret,” the model, 31, told PEOPLE at the brand’s annual fashion show in New York in November. “It’s actually an honor.” And Marisa’s rep seconds the rumor refutation, telling PEOPLE that “rumors that Marisa Miller has parted ways with Victoria Secret are completely false. The supermodel, who has successfully worked with the brand for over 10 years, is currently in negotiations with VS to work out a position with the retail brand for 2010.“–Charlotte Triggs

Tim McGraw’s New Facial Hair Gets Thumbs Down from His Daughters

Courtesy Country Countdown USA

Looks like the Hollywood facial hair trend has hit Nashville too! Tim McGraw has already proven that he’s just fine with changing up his famous good looks for a movie role — the country star shaved his goatee to play Sandra Bullock’s husband in The Blind Side and packed on the pounds for his part in Four Christmases — but count his latest transformation as a fashion don’t in the eyes of his daughters. “My daughters don’t like it at all, especially the oldest [12-year-old Gracie],” McGraw told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton of the full beard he’s grown for his role co-starring with Gwyneth Paltrow in Love Don’t Let Me Down. Gracie’s assessment? “You look old!’” Tim explained, “And I said, ‘Thanks a lot. Are you embarrassed for me to be around your friends with a beard?’ And she says, ‘There’s a lot of gray in there, Dad!’” Joked McGraw, “I told her I was gonna grow it out and do a big beard combover and try to get it over the top of my head.” In the movie, which began filming in Nashville this week, McGraw plays husband and manager to Paltrow’s country singer, and he says Paltrow impressed him with her pipes. “She’s a really good singer,” he says. “You’re going to be surprised at how well she sings.” –Eileen Finan

‘Mad Men’s’ Christina Hendricks Dishes on the Pitfalls Of Vintage Underwear

Frank Ockenfels/AMC

Christina Hendricks has become a fashion phenomenon playing Joan Holloway in the hit series Mad Men but the actress suffers for her art, especially when it comes to wearing authentic vintage underwear from the 1960′s. “If you’re working a really long day, they dig in,” the actress tells The Sunday Times Magazine. “The garters sometimes rub little blisters on your thigh, so we learn the tricks, put moleskin on them…” Playing the smoldering red-headed secretary Joan Holloway involves wearing a plethora of figure-hugging dresses, some of which are so tight Hendricks can barely walk in them. “I can’t step up into my trailer,” she admits. “They have to put a box underneath and I get up sideways.” But the unabashedly feminine, curve-hugging look is a hit with the fans who constantly praise the 34 year-old for her shapely physique. Since the show started the Tennessee native has had “so many positive comments from women.” Some of them simply confess their undying love in the street. “People do come up to me and say, ‘I’ve got such a crush – sometimes women [too]. They like to see a woman standing up for herself.” -Monique Jessen

Major Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective Set to Open in March

“Fashions fade, style is eternal,” Yves Saint Laurent once famously declared and you may now add: “March 11 is essential.’ Unquestionably, this spring’s Paris fashion essential is a ticket to the just-announced YSL Retrospective. The iconic designer will be the subject of the first major retrospective since his June 2008 death beginning on March 11, scheduled to run through August. And befitting the man whose designs defined sophistication, they’re pulling out all the stops to create a definitive spectacular. Organized jointly by the fashion legend’s long-time partner Pierre Bergé and the City of Paris, the exhibition will display over 300 haute-couture and Prêt-à-porter items, ranging over the entire 40 years of Saint Laurent’s canon. Fittingly, the retrospective will be housed in the city’s Petit Palais, just around the corner from the Dior showroom where Saint Laurent first found global acclaim in 1957. The exhibition will include pieces from Saint Laurent’s first Dior success, his “Trapeze” collection, as well as pieces from his 1965 Mondrian-inspired collection and his iconic “Le Smoking” tuxedo suit. His influential designs for film and theatre, including items worn by his muse Catherine Deneuve, will also be present in this comprehensive exhibit. Scheduled to open as the finale to Paris’s forthcoming Pret-a-porter week, the YSL Retrospective is being handled as a reserved event policy. Tickets are €11 (approximately $ 16) and the show runs until August 29. Visit yslretrospective.com for more information (and reservations, if you’re lucky enough to be in Paris!). –Peter Mikelbank
